The Northern Line boasts a very interesting history and operating procedure.  It is the product of two separate railways.  The City and South London railway was the worlds first deep level underground railway, opening in 1890 and running between Stockwell and King William Street, via Kennington and Elephant and Castle.  This was merged with the The Hampstead and Highgate Tube (todays Charing Cross Branch) as one of Yerkes many lines.  The line extended to Edgware in 1924 and the extension to Morden took place in 1926.  Today, the line serves 51 stations over it's 36 route miles, and is home to some of the longest continuous tunnel in Europe (if you travel from Morden to Golders Green via Bank.  The line runs exclusively on 1995 Tube Stock.  This is similar to the 1996 stock used on the Jubilee Line.  The Northern Line is also home to a host of abandoned stations, including it's original terminus at King William Street (near London Bridge) which closed in 1900 after only ten years service, due to the severer gradients and curves on the approach to the station.  King William was used as an air raid shelter during the second world war, and presumably, is still in the same condition in which it was left in 1945.  City Road, another City and South London Railway station, also closed due to lack of patronage, and can still be spotted as trains pass between Old Street and Angel.  South Kentish Town closed during a strike at Lot's Road power station in 1924 and never reopened.  There was tale of a man alighting at South Kentish Town not realizing it had closed, and spent a day or so trapped in the abandoned station before he was spotted and picked up by a driver.  Another station which never even opened on the line was 'North End', or as it is better know, 'Bull and Bush', at which some work was done at Platform Level before the station was abandoned.  Today it is used to store LUL equipment for engineering work.

The route requires you to have the East London, Northern and Piccadilly lines, as well as Birmingham X-City and South Brookfield route, so it's more of an add on rather than an actual route - But does seem to be promising work along this single stretch of track from Finchley Central to Mill Hill East.
