Opened
in 1884The Circle Line shares almost all of its 14 route miles and
all of it's 27 stations with three other lines, The District for the
southern and western parts, and the Hammersmith and City and
Metropolitan for the northern and eastern section of the line.
The line does have a two very small piece's of track which it uses exclusively,
one between Aldgate and Tower Hill and the other between High Street
Kensington and Gloucester Road, however if you blink, then you
probably would miss it! It takes about an hour for a complete
trip around the Circle Line. The line also serves most of
London's main line rail termini including Victoria, Charing Cross,
Paddington and Kings Cross. The 'C' stock trains which run the
route can also be found on the Hammersmith and City Line and Wimbledon
to Edgware Road branch of the District Line. The line only
gained a separate identity in 1949, until then, Circle line services
were run by the Metropolitan or District Lines. The BVE route
has been superbly modeled by Paul Jobber and includes many different
timetables for you to work and enjoy, including a sunday timetable,
where Cannon Street and Temple stations are closed.
