Episode 8 - Ever Turning Tides

With Steven now having been voted-out, Kelley found herself to be completely alone in the game. Megs and Jon, the only two people left who she had ever had an alliance with, had turned against her, and were soon thinking of voting her out. It seemed like there was no place for her anywhere on the tribe.

However, trouble was brewing in the air at Loki, as Jamie and Holly began to consider their position. In the last round, the duo had formed a main alliance with Jon and Megs for the final 4. However, they had then realized that Idun was clearly dominant on the tribe. Jamie and Holly began to wonder that if they were to betray Jose and Charles, would Jon and Megs want to stick with them when they'd only been together for part of the game?

In addition, Jose began to grow suspicious of the others in his tribe. Although he was good friends with Megs, but she recently had been keeping a lot of secrets from him, saying she knew stuff but wouldn't give specifics. Jose began to wonder if Megs might have too much control over people in the game. In reality, Megs had not had much influence on deciding who had left the game, but Jose's paranoia told him otherwise.

He did have his ex-Idun tribemates, he did not know exactly where people stood. Therefore, Jose decided it would be best to form an alliance with Kelley, claiming that in the round before he had voted for Charles and not Steven. The two agreed to form an alliance. Then, Jose asked Kelley if she would want to vote for Megs, somebody Steven had mentioned to him. Kelley told Jose that she would possibly, but would want to talk to Megs first to know where she stood.

It was then time for the immunity challenge, now individual. The challenge this time was to be a game much like the coconut-chop in Survivor: Marquesas. Each castaway were given a snowman, comprised of 3 snowballs, and a flame-thrower. Every round, Cat would show the name of a city in Sweden that had been scrambled. Those who got it correct would be given the chance to melt one snowball of the player's snowman. Once a player's snowman was entirely melted, the player was out of the competition. The winner would be the last player standing in the game.

The challenge got off to a quick start. On the first question, Holly and Jose were the first to answer. Much to her surprise, Jose first chose to melt Meg's snowman. Soon, the players were taken out of the challenge one by one, in the following order: Kelley, Charles, followed by Jose, Megs, and Jon. It was then Holly versus Jamie, in a final face-off. After going on for ages, finally Jamie won immunity yet again! This was the 7th round of the game that Jamie had been immune, only not being immune in the one round where there was no immunity. Clearly, he was on a roll.

However, others seemed too worried to actually notice Jamie's success in challenges. Jose was still concerned about Megs, feeling that she had too much control in the game. Megs was now beginning to wonder about Jose. After all, for some reason in the immunity challenge, Jose had tried to get Megs eliminated early on. Soon, her suspicions were fufilled. Jose decided he didn't want to blindside Megs, and to tell her that he was voting for her. Megs became very upset, especially since she hadn't had the influence over the game that Jose had accused her of.

In panic, Megs turned towards her past allies for help. She tried to get Jamie and Holly to vote for Jose, but the two were still wary of what to do. Jamie and Holly liked Megs, but also was feeling she could be controlling and could not be trusted completely. Megs also talked to her old Freya tribe members, Steven, Kelley, and Jon. Jon swiftly agreed to vote for Jose, but Kelley and Steven seemed less welcoming of the offer, since she'd helped get Steven voted out last round.

Jose began to realize that he was no in great danger due to his honest. For this reason, he resorted to one last desperate manuever to keep himself in the game: using his null vote, won at the auction last round. With it, he decided to null Meg's vote, preventing her from casting a vote. Although Megs would vote for Jose, it would not be counted, and a tie would be impossible.

With most of the group swinging between Jose and Megs, could anything truly be certain? Would alliances hold together, or new ones be strong? Would Steven and Kelley be willing to save Megs, who had gotten Steven voted out the round before?

The voting proceeded as follows:

Votes for Megs: 5 - Charles, Holly, Jamie, Jose, Steven
Votes for Jose: 2 - Jon, Kelley
No vote 1 - Megs (nulled by Jose) Jon and Kelley had decided to vote for Jose, but it wasn't enough. Megs had appeared as too big of a threat to others in the game, even though throughout the game her influence was small. Perhaps it was because of her objections in challenges, perhaps it had just seeming too forceful. Whatever the case, now Megs had a chance to get revenge of her own. She would return with the Loki tribe, while Steven would be sent home.
