Episode 4 - Sleeping in Stockholm

Last time, on Survivor Sweden…

After Ben had been voted out at Tribal Council, he promised to get revenge.

*
Ben: I am mad about them lying to us, so at least one of them will pay…I’m going to try to get a bit of revenge…
*

Players faced a near-impossible Immunity Challenge, as they tried to identify locations in Sweden based on pictures.

Charles: This challenge was really hard. I'm a geography buff, I know most of Sweden's major cities, but to identify things within the city.
*
“I think this one is number 4,” Jamie said, pointing to a picture.
“Where’s that from?” Jose asked.
Jamie checked the website, then said, “Karlstad.”
*

After Freya won Immunity for the second time in a row, the tribes were told they had to choose 3 people to be switched, which created tensions.

“Well guys,” Valerie then said, smiling, “I REAAAAAALLLLLLLY want to switch!!!”
“Well, we’re voting,” Megs told Valerie.
“I know, but can’t I make my voice be heard?” Valerie objected.
*
Jon: Valerie was being very selfish while we were deciding who to switch, and I just found it to be nuts.
*
Valerie: : I hate the new twist. I'm the only f**king original Freya on here! GRRR!!!!!!!!! I found it SO d**n UNFAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*

...and as the new Idun went to Tribal Council, Maria was voted out of the game, due to her sickness in the game. However, she’d get to spend one more week in the game, while Ben was sent home, due to the Delayed Departure twist.

“Ben, I’m sorry to say this,” Cat says, “But it is time for you to go home.”

Cat places the torch-snuffer over Ben’s torch, putting it out for good. Ben then exits the tribal council area, giving a wink and a wave to his old Freya pals as he leaves.

Tonight, Maria now has her turn to get revenge on those who voted her out. But little does she know, a new twist in the game will give her a bit advantage. What is the twist? Who will win immunity? And who will become the next person voted out of Vengeful Survivor: Sweden? All of this, and more, will be revealed, tonight!

Night 6 – Idun

As the new Idun tribe walked back to camp from Tribal Council, the mood was somewhat sour. Up ahead on the trail, Megs, Steven, Jon, Felipe, and Kelley were chatting happily with each other. Maria was left behind, to walk alone back to camp.

Maria sighed heavily, and looked ahead at her former tribe mates. It was quite clear that Maria was upset.

“I felt responsible for losing that immunity challenge,” she said to the camera as she walked along, “but I blame Ben and Steven for being voted out. They wanted revenge for Ben being voted out, so now it comes back and bites them on the butt. I will take revenge on the people who took me out, but I will stay true to the people that were trying to keep me in the game, even though I am ill.”

When she returned to camp, she started to go back to the tent to simply go to sleep, forgetting the events of the night. However, she then saw somebody approaching her. It was Felipe.

“I wanted to say sorry about voting for you,” Felipe said softly, “I didn’t think I really had a choice,”
“It’s okay,” Maria said, sighing again, “I think I understand,”

With that, Maria turned around, and slipped into the warmth of her sleeping bag. Soon, it would all be over.

Day 7 – Freya

The next day on Freya, everybody woke up bright and early. Today was the big day of the next Immunity Challenge, and everyone wanted to be prepared for whatever came their way.

Valerie, however, was sitting all alone by the fire. She was thinking about all the events that happened last round, and how she’d ended up all alone on what had once been her home tribe.

Marion saw her sitting all alone, and decided to try to talk to her.

“Hi,” Marion said, as she crouched down next to Valerie.
“Hey,” Valerie answered, avoiding eye contact with Marion.
“How are you?” Marion asked.
“Okay I guess,” Valerie stated, “and you?”
“I’m okay,” Marion smiled.

Valerie continued to look on into the fire, not saying a word. Marion looked at Valerie for a bit, then sighed.

“Kind of sucks for you I guess,” Marion said, “All the other Freyans that you picked are now Idun’s.”
“Isn’t it obvious?” Valerie said angrily, glaring at Marion.

Marion became somewhat taken aback by Valerie’s suddenness.

“Sorry,” she said, “Just trying to make some conversation…”
“Well, I’m sorry,” Valerie said, looking back into the fire, “I’m not in a good mood, plus I’m pissed at the people I picked.”
“Why?” Marion asked.
“They voted to take Kelley to Idun over me,” Valerie growled bitterly.
“That sucks,” Marion said again, attempting to be sympathetic, “but you are the leader! You’ll live!”
“Yeah, this hasn’t been the best week,” Valerie stated, “But I hope my position as leader will hold here.”
“Well, for the people you picked maybe,” Marion explained.
“The Iduns have no allegiance to me,” Valerie said.
“Yes,” Marion agreed bluntly.
“And I don’t want to go this soon,” Valerie stated, flipping her hair back.
“Well, there is Immunity,” Marion said, “if you have your tribe botch the challenge, and vote out Felipe or Maria, whichever one didn’t go, that would buy you another week in the game.”
“The Freyans will stick together,” Valerie said smugly.
“Yep,” Marion agreed again, “And you’ll get one more week in the game at least.”
“I hope that would work,” Valerie said.
“Well, if not,” Marion smiled, “Then I’ll try to help you.

Valerie looked up at Marion for the first time, and smiled back slightly.

“Thanks,” she said.
Marion then smiled, and walked away from Valerie. As she did, Valerie glared once again at Marion.
*
Valerie: Marion does get on my nerves. I know she's my tribemate, and my fellow leader, but she makes me cringe sometimes. *groan*
*
Jose: As I can compare both leaders, having been in both tribes, Marion is a much better leader than Valerie. Valerie did not do much for our tribe's success in the immunity challenges either, so I think she might be the next one to go.
*

Meanwhile, Holly and Jamie decided to go check on the treemail, and see if anything had already arrived. The two trudged through the snow in their parkas, as they walked along the path in the forest. When they arrived there, they found a note with the following poem:

Lights, Camera, Action
Divided into different Factions
Be the glamour of the stage
With your name, or your age

If you act it out quite fast
Another week you’ll seem to last
Fail to hurry through the plays
Be prepared for the end of days

Holly and Jamie were confused by what the message went, and returned to camp to alert their tribemates of the information. Little did they know how greatly the game was about to change…

Day 7 – Challenge Tundra

At noon that day, Freya and Idun arrived at the Challenge Tundra, along with Maria, ready for whatever challenge awaited them. Cat greeted the players with a smile.

“Well, so far in this game, we've had a nutty start,” Cat said, greeting the players, “We’ve had a switch in the second round, a switch after an Immunity Challenge, and people getting to stick around for an extra vote. How has it been?”

A wide variety of answers came from the players, “Hard”, “Interesting”, “Fun, but Tough”, and “Like a Cashew”.

“Well, we are going to be throwing another twist your way now,” Cat smiled, “And I want to apologize, as it might not be such a surprise for some of you.”
“Early merge?” Kelley asked.
“No,” Cat said, “We’re going to split you all into 3 tribes of 4.”

For a moment, everyone fell silent.

“What?” Holly asked.
“Oh my god,” Valerie squealed, her eyes widening.
“Shut up!” Felipe exclaimed.
“EEEEEEEEEEEEK!” Kelley screeched.
*
Valerie: I was COMPLETELY shocked. I thought that we were going to have an early merge. I guess that will happen soon enough, I mean, where we merge.
*
“However, this won’t be done so normally,” Cat said, “I’m giving you three choices as to how you will be split up. The first is by age, the second is by your names, and the third is by something you put on your application. You will not know what that is until afterwards. However, you all must agree as to the way you’ll be split up. You can begin deciding now.”

The 12 players began to debate how the tribes should be split. As the players were debating, Jamie and Holly were whispering to one another about what to do.
*
Holly: So I'm talking to Jamie, and we're like we have to be together...so we get the choices of how the tribes are being picked, and we won't be together with names probably, and we don't know about age, and so we decided apps was our best chance.
*

Others quickly seemed to agree with Holly and Jamie, that Application was the best option.

“I say we do application,” Marion said, “It would be the most random.”
“Application would also be the most fun,” Charles stated.
“I’ll be a lemming and go along with application,” Kelley laughed.

Within minutes, everyone had agreed that the tribes would be divided up based on the mysterious application factor. It was then that Cat revealed how they would be split up:

“On your applications,” Cat said, “I asked you to rank yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 in three traits held in the game: Empathy, Plotting, and Humor. The sum of what you rated yourself results in your tribes.”
“He’s sorting us by ego!” Marion gasped.
“Now knowing this, are you ready to see your new tribes?” Cat asked.

The players informed Cat that they did.

“Alright,” Cat said, continuing, “Our first tribe is called Vattna, which means water in Swedish. Vattna will therefore be wearing the color of blue. Players on Vattna are CHARLES, HOLLY, JAMIE, and JON!”

The four new tribemates accepted their buffs gladly from Cat, then stepped aside.
*
Jamie: I honestly wasn't expecting the 3 tribes of 4, but I am happy that Holly is on my tribe, so I have half of the votes.
*

“The next tribe is called Brasa,” Cat continued, “which means Fire in Swedish, therefore their tribal color is orange. Players on Brasa include FELIPE, KELLEY, STEVEN, and VALERIE.

Valerie, Steven, Kelley, and Felipe all approached Cat and got their new buffs.
*
Felipe: I really like my new tribemates. They all seem to be very nice and cool. I think we will be like family members, and are a strong tribe.
*

“Our last tribe,” Cat said, “Is called Istapp. Istapp means Icicle in Swedish, making their tribe’s color be white. Istapp will contain AMBER, JOSE, MARION, and MEGS.”

All four of the new tribe members of Istapp came and accepted their buffs. Afterwards, they too stepped aside, allowing everyone to take a close look at the new tribes for the first time.
*
Charles: Vattna, is a good team. We're very strong, and even the name suggests that we'll win. I mean, water puts out fire, Brasa, and it melts ice, Istapp.
*
Jose: I was very surprised. I didn't predict that there was going to be yet another tribal switch. But this one really puts people in danger, because there are only 4 people in each tribe, making it really hard to vote
*
Steven: I am very happy with my new tribe. All 3 are very strong and I'm excited to compete with them, but I especially like it because it contains 3 Freyans, and 1 Idun.
*
Valerie: I really feel sorry for Megs and Jon. They are the only original Freyans on their tribes, and that gives them an automatic bull's-eye on their backs.
*
Jon: I think that my new tribe is AWESOME! They're really fun people to have in this tribe, and very fun people to be playing this game with. However, the 3 of them could be conspiring to vote me out if we were to ever lose immunity. I'm the only person from Freya on Vattna, so that worries me a lot.
*
Marion: I was kind of shocked. This is the second time I was separated from a whole group of Original Iduns. Oh well, I am a trooper and a leader, so I'll survive until then. I think we are all so twisted at this point. You're lucky if you have the same people on your tribe for 3 weeks. I just want my allies in one place so I can plan. I wish the old two-tribe system was back. I want the title of strongest leader. Now it's harder to knock off all the original Freyans. I have an official alliance with Holly and Jamie. I hated being separated from them again. Oh well, at least I have Amber.
*

“With that,” Cat said, “We’re going to be having our next Immunity Challenge in 20 minutes. Before that, here are maps to your new 3 tribe’s sites, all only half a mile away from here. I’ll see you in 20, please don’t wander off too far!”

The tribes began to get to know each other better, finding common interests and figuring out how to win the upcoming challenge. As this was going on, Jose didn’t follow Cat’s advice and wandered off for a little while. He was very tired, and decided to lie down to rest for a moment in a small patch of grass shooting up through the snow, starting to form as a mark of Spring.

Soon, the 20 minutes were up, and it was time to start the Immunity Challenge.

“Alright everyone, come over here,” Cat said, leading them off behind a large mound of snow.

Twelve of the castaways, including Maria, followed Cat behind the snow mound, none of them noticing that one person was missing. There, they saw 3 stages set up, with props and costumes. On each stage, there were identical sets of a mountain. On one side of the mountain was a house, on the other side was a forest.

“Your next Immunity Challenge is this,” Cat said, “You will all, in your tribes, be given a script for a play called, “A Boy and his Moose”. This play has a total of 4 parts: Narrator, Olaf, Moose, and Mountain. You must now each assign the parts you want your teammates to get.”
At this point, Marion walked over to Cat. “Cat,” Marion said, “Jose seems to be missing, and we can’t find him!”
“We have some crew looking for him,” Cat said, “It appears that he wandered off. However, for now, you’ll have to try your best on the challenge without him.”

After all the tribes had chosen parts for their teammates, Cat then explained the challenge.

“You will all be acting out this play now,” Cat stated, “You are allowed to take breaks if you want, and can go at whatever pace you want. However, the first tribe to get through the play wins. You cannot skip over any lines or movements written down in the script. If you do so and don’t correct your mistake by re-enacting it, you’ll be disqualified from the Immunity Challenge. If after one hour nobody has completed the play, which is unlikely but possible, whichever tribe got the farthest through the play first wins Immunity. You’ll all also have a script prompter to make sure you do the play correctly.”

“In addition, however, we have individual Immunity up for grabs!” Cat added, “When your tribe finishes acting out the play, you’ll be allowed to start continuing the play with improv, saying whatever lines you want, all made up by you. At the hour mark, the last person to have read a line wins. If your group hasn’t finished at that point, then the last person to have spoken a line from the script will win. With that said, are there any questions?”

The tribes all said that there weren’t.

“Alright, then survivors ready?” Cat asked, “GO!”

Instantly, the tribes began reading through their scripts. At first, all of the tribes got off to a good start, and it was a dead even race. However, Istapp quickly ran into some troubles, when they reached Jose’s first lines as the Mountain. Megs, Amber, and Marion began to wait, hoping Jose would return.

“This is useless,” Marion muttered under her breath. Getting annoyed, she wandered off from the stage to take a break.

Meanwhile, on Brasa, some trouble occurred in the play…

“Every child in my village has their own pet moose, except for I,” Felipe said, reading his lines as the Boy, “I am left alone to play in the cold snow.”
“Awwwwww,” Steven said, following along with the script.
Valerie then piped out a short “Aw”, instead of a long one.

“You messed up on the Awww!” the Script Prompter told Valerie. However, she didn’t care to fix her mistake, and the Brasa tribe continued.

Vattna was still going very strongly, and were farther ahead in the script than anyone else.

“I've come so far already, and I refuse to turn back!” Charles read as the Boy.

Jon then pointed to Holly to cue the next line.

“Well then, I refuse to go any further.” Holly stated, as the Moose.
“With a humph, the moose sat down in the snow,” Jon said, as the Narrator. He then pointed to Jamie for the next line to continue.
*
Charles: Jon helped out a lot at the immunity challenge. He was a great leader, and he helped us all coordinate to do our lines. He really helped out, and we probably wouldn't have been as fast without him.
*
Jon: I actually really enjoyed participating in that Immunity Challenge. I feel like I was a bit of a leader in that, because once someone said one line, I would be the person to cue the next.
*

Maria watched all of the plays going on, somewhat nervous about what could happen.
*
Maria: I was hoping that the tribe with Felipe on it would win immunity, because I want him to go all the way. He deserves it, and he is the one person that really tried to keep me in the game.
*

On Brasa, Valerie was starting to get a bit tired.

“Guys, I think we should take a break,” Valerie whispered, “We might be able to go faster later then.”

The Brasa tribe got off the stage momentarily, as Valerie tried to find a place to drink.

It was then that Jose finally was found, and reunited with his tribe. However, only Megs was there to greet him.

“I’m sorry, I’m awake now,” Jose whispered to her.
“It’s okay,” Megs said, “But we’ve now lost our Olaf and Narrator! You can read your line though until they return.”

Meanwhile, Amber and Marion saw Jose up on the stage from afar. The two quickly ran back to continue the challenge, now being far being the Vattna tribe.

Finally, with 14 minutes to spare of the challenge, Vattna finished the play. It was then that the tribemates began making up lines to continue the story and win Individual Immunity.

“And now, on the DVD: BLOOPERS!” Jon stated.
“The moral of the story?” Jamie asked, “Olaf needs someother kind of pet than a Moose...maybe a ferret?”
“I refuse to act today! I BROKE A NAIL!” Jon shouted, trying to stay ahead of the others.
At Brasa’s stage, they were just starting to regroup from their break, which Valerie had extended. However, they now found only 2 minutes left to continue the play! Quickly, they began trying to catch up, not realizing Vattna had already finished.

Finally, Istapp’s tribe finished with 1 minute left to spare. It then became a quick fight for Individual Immunity.

“I am glad you have learned your lesson Olaf,” Jose said.
“And the moose lived happily ever after in the forest,” Megs said slowly, trying to take up time, “and Olaf is still searching for his pet moose. The End!”

“TIME!” Cat yelled. The players then stopped the plays, and one by one got off the stage.

Soon, Cat had gathered the results, and was ready to announce them:

“Finishing well before any other tribe comes the Vattna tribe!” Cat announced Congratulations, you have won Immunity!”

Charles, Jamie, Holly, and Jon all celebrated, glad to have won.

“In addition,” Cat said, “There is Individual Immunity to be given on each tribe, including Vattna. The winner on Vattna will have it role over to next round, being immune twice! The winner on Vattna, was…

JAMIE!” The group applauded, as Jamie came up to accept one of the Immunity Necklaces.

“On the Brasa tribe,” Cat said, “You were informed of a mistake it seems that was not fixed. Therefore, you play stopped far back, when Valerie said ‘Aw’ far too short, and not following the script exactly. Therefore, Congratulations Steven, you have won Individual Immunity!”

Steven came up and accepted his Immunity Gladly, as everyone applauded.

“And finally,” Cat said, “From the Istapp tribe, MEGS, you have won Individual Immunity.”

Megs excitedly came up, and accepted her Immunity. Everyone applauded, while Amber eyed Megs somewhat suspiciously.

“Congratulations to you all!” Cat smiled, “Maria, as well as Brasa and Istapp, I will see you all at Tribal Council tomorrow night. Might I mention by the way, Maria will now be voting at BOTH Tribal Councils, meaning she gets 2 shots at revenge! For now, you may all head back to your new camps!”

The tribes left, as Maria went off with the Brasa tribe. Two fateful Tribal Councils awaited the players…

The Vattna tribe arrived at their new tribe site with joy and splendor! They were very happy to have won Immunity, and with their new tribes.
*
Jon: I was very happy that we won Immunity. However, I was even more happy when Megs won individual immunity. I was highly expecting her to go if she hadn't won that, and now I know that she's safe. My guess is that Jose will be voted off tonight from Istapp. Whatever, he hasn't done anything to help me in the game.
*
Charles: We won the challenge! I saw it coming, Istapp and Brasa weren't getting done quickly at all. Mainly it was Valerie and Jose that blocked their progress, but at least Jose got it together and finished it for the tribe. I don't think Brasa even finished it. But it's good, I'm in the final ten.
*
Jamie: Vattna was able to work as a tribe and we completed it without hardly any problems, so I was definitely pleased. Plus I got the extra individual immunity that I can carry on to my next trip to tribal council, so I really happy about that because that basically ensures me 9th place and up.
*

As the tribe was celebrating, Jamie and Holly were beginning to talk about the game.

“Is there anyone in this game that you definitely don't want in it?” Holly asked.
“Nope, you?” Jamie asked back.
“No,” Holly laughed, “Which is the problem.”
“Same here,” Jamie agreed, “I wish there could have been some dumb or annoying people in the game!”
“He did this on purpose,” Holly joked. She thought for a moment, then added, “You know, me and you are the only people who haven’t been to Tribal Council yet!”
“I know, and that’s a good thing!” Jamie laughed.
“Me and you are in good luck!” Holly said, laughing along.
“We’ve had good team work,” Jamie said, “I was amazed at how well we worked together on the play challenge!”
“I know!” Holly commented, “We finished in like a half hour, and no one got angry or mad at anyone!”
“Cat is a good pairer-upper,” Jamie joked.
*
Holly: Jamie is very, very trustworthy and fun talking to. I want him to win.
*

Soon, all of Vattna had gone to bed, leaving the night behind.

Day 7 – Brasa

The Brasa tribe returned to camp somewhat upset with the Immunity Challenge’s results. However, they were managing okay.
*
Steven: Well, I'm glad I have immunity. I was a little pissed of that Val couldn’t have stopped to think for just a few minutes. If she had, she could have maybe LISTENED to the challenge, and we could've decided a way to work together and finish first.
*
Felipe: Right now, I'm kind of lost in the game. I don’t want to make any alliances in my new tribe because I'm the only Ex-Idun tribe member there, and they could turn against me. So I don’t want to prove I'm scared and that my faith is in their hands. It will give them the control of the tribe.
*

Felipe went to bed quickly, while Kelley, Valerie, and Steven joined together around the fire. Here, they whispered quietly, discussing the game.
*
Valerie: I have an alliance with Steven and Kelley. It's held strong since original Freya. From the looks of it, it will hold until the end. Our strategy is to get rid of Idun, and then the non-alliance Freyans. By then, it will be the final 3, and it will be each woman, or man, for him or herself.
*

Maria looked on and around the tribe, seeing how alone Felipe was. She decided it would be best to go to sleep, then tomorrow head over to Istapp and learn of what their plans were…

Day 7 – Istapp

As Istapp arrived at their new tribe, the mood was quiet and dull. Nobody really wanted to talk much about what had happened during the Immunity Challenge. Megs, however, was very shocked, surprised, and feeling quite fortunate.
*
Megs: I honestly don’t know what to think. I mean, if I didn’t have Immunity right now, I'd be freaking out. I like everyone, but when it all comes down to it, I don't know if they'd vote with old tribal lines. But I still love the people on my new tribe!
*
Amber: This really sucks. First off, we go to tribal council, and I find out that Megs won the Immunity idol, and she was supposed to be the next to go. Now at this point, I really don’t know who is going…
*

As they were setting up the new tribe’s tent, Jose and Marion began to talk about the day.

“I honestly think I am leaving tomorrow night,” Jose stated, “because you guys have a definitely good reason for voting me off unfortunately.”
Marion sighed, and looked at Jose. “I’m voting for you.” She confessed boldly.

Jose hung his head, knowing that it was true already.

“I would have voted for Megs,” Marion continued, “But she has Immunity.”
“Yeah I know,” Jose said resentfully. He then asked, “Do you know who Amber voted for?”
“Probably you,” Marion sighed.
*
Marion: Jose's falling asleep definitely caused us to lose this week. The winning Tribe finished before Jose even started because he fell asleep. *sighs*
*
Jose: Honestly, losing the Immunity Challenge was all my fault. That little falling asleep thing might cost me the whole game. Since I fell asleep, we weren't able to finish it on time, so we lost. I know I can perform good, and I know Megs has seen me perform good, so I am hoping Megs will side with me.
*

With the tent set up, and a fire started, Istapp decided to call it a day’s work. All four tribe members crowded into the tent, and went to sleep. Tomorrow would bring a new day…

*Editor's Note: It should be mentioned, in the past we've used the "being sick" reason to replace the reasons of computer problems. However, in the cast of Maria, she actually *was* sick, with a fever over 100 degrees Farenhiet and had been throwing up. This was not something created for the game's storyline, it actually did happen.
