ROUND THREE
Friday the 24th of
March.
NORWOOD 2.3 7.9
12.13 18.14 (122)
GLENELG 5.2 9.3 13.4 16.4 (100)
This was a
disapointing loss, especially considering that Glenelg
were in front for three quarters of the match, and only
trailed by 3 points at the last change. A series of
undisciplined free kicks allowed Norwood to kick away at
the start of the final term. Glenelg's inexperience was
exposed against a Norwwod side boasting 15 players with
AFL back grounds.

LEGS LIFT WHEN
IT COUNTS
By Doug Robertson.
Norwood stuck strictly to its solid game plan and
produced superb skills to wear down tough and tigerish
Glenelg by 22 points in a high quality contest at The
Parade last night.
The Redlegs had to scrap and fight every centremetre of a
rugged encounter but when the players' legs became weary
it was Norwood's class that held strong to win 18.14
(122) to 16.14 (100), after leading by just three points
at the last break. But the premiership points came at a
high price with captain Anthony Harvey copping a
suspected dislocated left shoulder, which is likely to
see him side-lined for many weeks. The injury blow
happened when Harvey flew into a pack 10 minutes into the
second term. He had had 15 damaging touches at that stage
and was clearly Norwood's best.
Norwood did not have things its own way. Glenelg opened
at a furious pace, rebounding neatly from defence and
deep into attack. It ran hard and played tough.
Shane Tipuamantamerri was explosive in the back pocket
and former WA state defender Craig Venables, two-game
rookie Craig Tasborski and Paul Sherwood blanketed Andrew
Pascoe, Ben Wilson and Scott Basset early.
Wilson plugged away to kick 3.4, earning every touch
while Pascoe and Basset had to wait until the secong half
to have any influence.

Tiny
Scott Borlace - with six goals and a best - afield
performance - Ben Kemp, Scott Doreen and Brett James kept
the Redlegs in the game during the first half but the
entire Norwood team lifted when things were tough. And
they really were tough. A minor scuffle started before
the first bounce between dumped Norwood, now Glenelg
forward Eugene Warrior and some of his former team -
mates. Others broke out during the game but Warrior -
kept in check by Tony Clements - shook hands with almost
all the Norwood players after the final siren. Norwood
was rattled until Damian Obst came off the interchange
bench to a wing at the first break, the Crows' Andrew
Eccles went to half-forward and Glenn Stanford to the
goalfront and the balance was better.
Norwood started to move smoothly through the midfield and
hit the front for the first time just before time-on when
Direen drifted down from defence to goal from a mark just
inside the 50m arc. Norwood had added 3 goals in a 3
minute burst to get beck on par but the Tigers' Ben Moore
slotted through a miracle goal from a sharp angle 25m out
after weaving through a pack.
Then David Hams, formerly with South Adelaide, showed
poise by soccering a goal from 25m out 4 minutes later to
give Glenelg a 6 point lead at half time. The scores were
tied 4 times in the third quarter but Glenelg cracked
first, giving away 5 free kicks to nil in the first 10
minutes of the final quarter as Norwood added 5.1 to 1.0
before time-on.
