Theme Month officially Begins February 14, 2001
By: Mystery
Serafina made the first post to the Official Atriarch website that is a part of their Theme Month promotion. This post is a new story relating to the Calavan species (which is apparently the theme this month). To read the story for yourself, click here.

New Creature Animation February 13, 2001
By: Mystery
Serafina has graced us with her presence once more, delivering unto AT Vault a new character animation for the Pikatan, a 4 legged brute that looks like an over-large, radioactive cockroach.

You can see what I'm talking about here. (Quicktime Player required).

Determine the Orbit February 12, 2001
By: Mystery
In one of those "Community Building" moves, the devs over at World Fusion (team Atriarch) have created a new contest, and denoted the APDT Website official depository of contest entries.

The contest is to determine the orbits of Atriarch's 3 moons. Now, I know many of you are jumping at the chance of entering out of the sheer joy of using math, but let me warn you: we're dealing with UNreality here, folks.

I can understand the interesting game effects you might have when certain spectral things happen, but really folks: working out the physics to determine accurate orbits for 3 moons, and then incorporating that into the game is just a lot of CPU cycles for what will essentially be visual fluff for the average player.

Story Month February 02, 2001
By: Mystery
According to the Official Atriarch Home Page, Tuesday will begin what they call a Theme Month series, February being Story Month.

Chat Log #22 January 29, 2001
By: Mystery
Synon, over at The Ends of Atriana, has posted Chat Log #22. In his own words:

Just what does it have? Well I can tell you it has different Atriarch time units, more info on building and how you begin, forensic skills, Eshlar advancing in buiding and the effects, mobile buildings and houses, mention of a new water creature that is mountable, slugs and other city sized creatures, explaination on symbiotes, looting rights and thieving skills and more.

Developers Leave Workstations! January 29, 2001
By: Mystery
According to the Official Atriarch Website, AT fans may soon get a chance to meet and greet their favorite developers:

Serafina (Lead Game Designer) and Firemist (Community Liason), will be attending the ISDA USC Conference. If you will also be attending, be sure to yell, WOO ATRIARCH so we know to go up and say hi *smile*

Scooping the IRC Chat January 26, 2001
By: Mystery
In a wierd turn of events AT Vault scooped AT Stratics' own IRC chat with Serafina, developer for the Atriarch project. You can catch the summary of her comments in today's news update. Here's a sample:

Serafina: Soffo... yes, we already have stuff like that in the game including spinning kicks, weird punches and combos
Serafina: yeah, we got all that stuff
Serafina: The Cavolon have this cool combat move where they fly into the air and spin around like a helicopter.

Proving that Media is Self-Inventing January 26, 2001
By: Mystery
In the great tradition of media reporting on media reporting on media (like this very site), Crossroads of Atriana has posted a Community Profile Interview with a member of the Atriarch community Eyeke. What else are you going to do until the game comes out, right?
