The Bridge of Sighs, linking the Doge's palace to the prison. We took this from a gondola. St. Marks Cathedral and square, flooded, on our very first day. The winged lion, symbol of Venice, on the side of St. Marks. More decoration on the Doge's palace.

Three doges. A griffon on the entrance to the Doge's palace. Marco Polo's house is the small brick structure with the inset cross. Looking out towards the lagoon from St. Mark's Square. The portico of the Doge's palace is on the left.

The fish market at Rhialto, which has been in operation for over a thousand years. Rhialto bridge. Gondolier in front of the fish market. The domes of St. Mark's.

Tre Ponti, a famous bridge much beloved of painters. The quay at St. Marks, taken from the bar we thought was the famous Harry's Bar, but which was, in fact, just some overpriced tourist bar. But the view was lovely. Cannereggio canal, Venice's second largest, which we spent a happy day walking up and down and exploring.
