A typical altar from a small church near the fish market that is reported to be the oldest in Venice. Church tower near Ca D'Oro. I love this picture because it captures perfectly the excess that Italians seem to so love in their churches. Still, it works somehow. Typical streetside shrine.

Another shrine, in the wall of a house. Another altar shot, from Brett, who didn't mind taking pictures inside a church as much as I did. This was on a corner near our hotel. Over the doorway to a beautiful church called Mary Miracoli, where the locals told us that half of Venice gets married.

A statue of Mary, canalside. The front of Mary Miracoli - the Mary bust from the previous row is just over the door. A sneak picture of me taken inside one of the churches.
