- Dáin - (dwarf) He is the cousin of Thorin and was the king of the Iron
Mountains, but he moved his people to the lonely mountian after the death of Smaug.
- Déagel - (Stoor) Gollum's friend, he originaly found the ring but he
was killed by Gollum.
- Denethor - (human) He is the son of Ecthelion and and the father of
Boromir and Faramir. He was a steward of Gondor during the War of the Ring. He used the
palantir of Minas Tirith, which aged him prematurely. Because Sauron controlled what Denethor
saw, Denethor despaired, buring himself on a pyre. He died with the palantir in his hands.
- Dori - (dwarf) A member of the Company led by Gandalf, which was
journeying to the Lonely Mountain.
- Dwalin - (dwarf) A member of the Company led by Gandalf, which was
journeying to the Lonely Mountain.
