      Inner Child

Little child inside me
Alone
Abandoned
For so long.

Little child inside me
Scared
Screaming
For a safety unknown.

Little child inside me
Ignored
Isolated
By so many so long.

Sitting at the window of my mind
Tears running free like rain
On the glass beside you
Thought you were alone.

Until I saw more than just your little corner.
Room filled with needy abandoned children
Reaching out, needing to feel the warmth
Of human touch
Of human caring
I take you in my arms.
