The network which exists between schools and Rotary clubs
is well founded. Many students from Winmalee High School and other Blue
mountains schools have already ventured overseas on this exciting
opportunity, so that Rochelle has had the chance to talk to others in the
same situation.
A close association also exists with the exchange of students from
around the world to the Blue
Mountains and surrounding communities. Because of this, Rochelle has
already had the chance to meet and make friends with other exchange
students without leaving the country! Their many tips have provided a good
insight on how to cope away from home and of how they feel at the many
stages of their year away.
Strong ties often develop amongst the students from many different
countries and these may last a lifetime. Speaking to families who have had
many years of hosting students from overseas, reveals that this is the
case for the families who offer to host students in their home for a
period of time too. We will be privileged to share our home with a
Canadian girl, Meggan, who arrived in our home just before Rochelle left for Denmark.
Links on this page should provide contacts to some of the important
elements for those seeking further information about Rotary Student
exchange, as well as links to some of our own family's Australian journeys
(see choices below) and, in time hopefully, some of Rochelle's travels in
Denmark and Europe.
