The flag ceremony was held on the
Saturday morning at 9am.
All the exchange students wore their jackets and
looked great. Most of the students had practised the routine of walking on
stage, holding the flags properly and of course smiling, which wasn't hard
for us.
It was really well done and, what we hear, looked great.

After a busy day on Saturday,
watching the swimming competition, getting involved with archery (I was
pretty good and honestly, I didn't hit anyone) and ending it off having a
blast canoeing, swimming and boating, we all got dressed up and headed to
the Masquerade Ball.
It was a great time and everyone looked fantastic.
The band was amazing and I am pretty sure everyone's feet were a little
sore the next day.

I was disappointed to not get all the Exchange students in
the above photo, but it will do. There are 14 of us all together but
only 10 in the photo. The missing people are Angie (Austria), Carl
(Sweden), Jens (Denmark) and Ginette (Switzerland) who were further to
the right. Starting on the left we have: Stephanie (France), Felipe
(Chile), Magdalena (Chile), Carl (Germany), Me, Kiasa (Finland), Fabien
(Belgium), The District Governor-John Wakefield, Ditte (Denmark), Vanessa
(Brazil) and Johnathas (Brazil).
I would say we did a really good job and represented
our countries with pride. Most of us received our own flags, to be placed
in the slabs of wood plus other flags of different countries.
Overall, the
whole weekend was rather tiring but an awesome time. It was worth staying
up until 3am Friday night and 4 am Saturday night - eating cake and
chatting. It was Kiasa's birthday that Friday, and mine the previous Monday,
and somehow we managed to get 4 cakes all together. I think we left some
for the cleaning ladies.
The exchange students don't get together that
often because of the distances that some of us live from each other but
when the chance does come we all seem to have a great time and get along
like we've known each other forever.
