The trip continues... 01/04/05 - 01/06/05

(that's April through June  for you foreigners)

April 1-

So, who's the April fool now then......

I guess I am!  You see, a brother of mine asked med if I knew how to lay concrete, and I said yes.  (fool that I am)  So when 10 1/2 yards of warm conc arrived at 1:30pm in 85°f/28°c heat, yup, you guessed it we were hard pressed to finish it.

But alas, this is not the end of a funny story, for when working in conc I need long rubber boots to the hip.. conc got in my short ankle boots, the sand/rock rubbed the skin away and the chemicals ate all the flesh off my ankles.

Two days later I could not walk, the doctors bill is still coming, but the USA medical system required a deposit for my treatment of $90. and a week of antibiotics $65. has left me just loving the medical system here!!

So who's the fool now then?...........

Next adventure - Laughlin River Run

How to describe a US biker run, easy, 60,000 bikers in a town built for 20,000 partying for 5 days in the sun on the shores of the Colorado River bordering AZ/NV.

For me the highlight of the week was a Steppenwolf concert.  Whilst John Kay and Steppenwolf were just starting to play 'Get your motor runnin' I looked through the outdoor concert area through the stage and over the Colorado River to see about 40 Harley's take off and head down the road.  Yes, life is grand sometimes.  I then stood up and hobbled, on flesh eaten stumps for feet, from the concert area.

Sunday 24th April saw me take a helicopter ride to the very bottom of the Grand Canyon to stay/live in the Supi Indian Village for a week - see photos - worth 1,000 words.

And now it's May - Yahoo my birth month, the month when all good things happen......

Hi Ho Hi Ho - It's off to Mexico we go.

So, Shaggin and I head to Mexico for some good tacos and for me to renew my Visa, sounds simple don't it?.........

May 6 -

We cross the border of USA and Mexico, 'Hey mate, let's celebrate my birthday with a nice feed' (Ha Ha Ha)

We are only 8 miles from the USA and walk into a restaurant where nobody, and I mean nobody but us are white and speaking a form of English even Pom's could relate to.  But, undeterred, we sit, point at fridge and ask for "Coke" and get it.  So far so good.  we point at the pictures of shrimp on the menu and order from two different areas, 'Hey buddy, so far so good'  The food?.. Well these really big cocktail glasses and I mean BIG glasses arrive, one filled with watery mush and shrimp, the other one with watery mush and octopus, IMAGINE OUR SURPRISE!

We ate/drank and left wondering if we had just paid $20. US for dishwater and slops, so it's back to the border and the US Immigration Dept, 'Hooray, Safe at last' we cry..

WRONG AGAIN.  You see not every immigration officer is nice and as there are a lot of law's to understand, hey it's okay to not know them all, (to cut my own throat at this point would not be good) I left without my Visa and went back to Phoenix.  That was my birthday, Damn near an illegal alien and in jail, no date, and home alone.

Monday 9 May, I went to Nogales had better luck with immigration and now allowed to stay 'til 31 August.

The next day I flew out of AZ and into Indiana, the home of Indy racing cars.

Hey Zat, thanks for meeting me at the airport.. Next stop, Spring Fling, Gidday #27!

Spring Fling-

Hmmmm... 60/70 sober bikers doing what bikers do best.. Partying...  Sober... Clean, yes, you read right about 60/70 partying clean and sober bikers.  Hell, I even got 6 hours of sleep (somewhere between Thursday and Sunday).  Great "AA" meetings, Rain, A poker run, Rain, High winds, Raffles, Tom foolery, And more wind and rain.  Wow!! thanks #27 for a great time, see you all at the picnic.

Back to Phoenix AZ, can I sleep now???

Landed AZ 6:30pm took off on the bike, two and a half hours later arrived home, jumped in the car with Rip and went on a 600 mile drive to Ruidoso, New Mexico for yet another biker party (see pictures)

Whilst staying with a friend "Tracey" I found a new way to kill moths as demonstrated by my mate Tracey.

            1) Take air rifle, pump with air, moth lands, Shoot.... Slow but effective
            2) Take Bic lighter, can of carb cleaner..... You know the rest

Now, I must point out that method two is much more effective, and gives instant results, however there are a few drawbacks.

    a) You WILL leave the ceiling of your house all black
    b) You may set the house on fire
    c) You scare the crap out of your mates when they hear........ WHOOOOFF...... look around at the doorway to the kitchen from the hall and see bloody great flames everywhere coming from the kitchen.

Alas, I now know a guy called "Bugs" in Ruidoso.

So folks, that's another two months come and gone, if you really want to know what happened in Mexico, ask me in person.

Wow, it's been a great trip so far............ stay tuned..........

I have three more months before I will be back in OZ.  On the plans at this stage, Willy and Spock arrive from OZ, Arm picnic, 10,000 miles to ride, Sturgis and who knows what else.

Ciao
