As always at this time of year, our school children are preparing for the reception of various sacraments: First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation. Please remember these young children in your prayers. San Narciso School will begin very soon in renovating an existing structure on the property to serve as a library. The government has promised some financial resources to assist in this project. We hope to have the library open after school to give the primary and high school students a place to study with computer access. We have recently received the donation of fifty Apple Computers for use in our school. We are still unpacking and mixing and matching to make them work. They are used, but we are very grateful for any resources that can help us better prepare our children for the future. These computers will be distributed to our schools where there is the most need. Our effort at pairings of our schools with various schools in the US continues. A new addition is Our Lady Queen of Peace in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They are paired with the school in Cristo Rey. The process has begun with short bulletin inserts and pen pal letters as well as photographs of the village and school. Our hope is that this, as well as our other relationship with schools and parishes continues and we can have visitors and send Belizeans to visit our paired parishes. Libertad RC School has also recently received a large number of books donated to their library from Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church and School in Bourbonnais, Illinois. Books are very expensive here and their gifts are greatly appreciated. Parish Pairing: We have been successful in obtaining pairing parishes in the United States for some of our chapels and schools. San Victor - is paired with ST. Joseph School in Springfield, IL. Libertad Primary - is paired with Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bourbonnais, IL. San Narciso - is paired with St. Viator Church from Las Vegas, Nevada. Patchakan - is paired with St. Thomas More from Henderson, Nevada. Concepción - is paired with St. Mary's Primary School in Lake Forest, IL. Cristo Rey - is paired with Conrad Fischer Elementary School in Elmhurst, IL.
