The ongoing Social Services Project.

San Narciso

The church in San Narciso, which was begun only two years ago is rapidly nearing completion. When all of the pews are installed, the church should seat more than four hundred people. It is a great blessing to the community. Because in the initial planning we knew that we needed an additional hurricane shelter for the village, we constructed it in such a way that in times of need it will double as a shelter.

This church construction project represents the work of many people and it has truly become a place of pride in the village. We would especially like to thank our friends at St. Viator Church in Las Vegas for their donation to assist us with the construction of additional pews for the new church.

Buena Vista

Since the last update on the web page, or village of Buena Vista has constructed a new chapel also. Buena Vista is a small village that has never had its own chapel. In the past, one of the classrooms in the school was used for the celebration of the Eucharist and for all other religious celebrations. Now, thankfully, they have their own church. Mr. Joaquin Bobadilla, the church leader of the village was instrumental in the project. The ladies of the village, each week sold various foods to raise funds for the project and now it is a reality. Bishop O. P. Martin, generously donated funds for the completion of the roof. There are still pending the finishing touches on the inside, but we have a space that will serve the community well for many years. ¡Gracias a Dios!

Cristo Rey

Cristo Rey is one of the few remaining villages that do not have a specific place in which to worship. Like many other places in the past, they are using a classroom in the school, which is far from the best option. They have been raising funds for a new construction for many years, but it is difficult here. Recently, in fact on the Feast of Cristo Rey, I was able to pass on to them some wonderful news. Adveniat, the social branch of the German Catholic Bishop's Conference has accepted our request for support in this construction. They have sent a donation of 10,000 Euros, which is the equivalent of 17,900 Belize dollars. While that doesn't pay for the entire project, it does allow us to put in the foundation and walls. God does indeed answer prayers.

Corozal Town

The "Schofield House" is a house that is adjacent to the parish in Corozal Town. It is owned by the church and represents the last structure with classical colonial architecture in the town. We have begun the repair on the building and it will house a residence for our volunteers from overseas when it is completed. This is a project, which will take several years to complete, but will be well worth the effort.

San Andres

The village of San Andres has received a donation of land from the government with a structure that will serve as a temporary church building until a larger structure can be built. We are most grateful to the government for the land. Parishioners have already cleaned the land and placed a fence around the property. They are anxious to begin so that they will have a place of worship.
