About Me

Electromagnetics is more than just an academic interest... its a passion

4. Interpreting Smith Charts

My fascination toward Physics started when I read the book on Fundamentals of Physics by Resnick and Halliday in my 9th grade. I was studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya in Hyderabad then. That school laid the foundations of my aptitude for research. My best subjects in school were Math and Physics.

My dad's work brought us to Chennai in 2000 and I pursued my high school here in Anna Gem HSS. I opted for studying Math and Physical Sciences. After considerable hard work for 2 years I finished school with flying colors and got an admit in College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

In college, apart from Electromagnetics, the one field which attracted me was VLSI. Entering into ISL (Integrated Systems Lab), which I consider the turning point of my life, brought me closer to chip design and its intricacies. Prof. P. V. Ramakrishna, who heads this lab, was instrumental in bringing state of the art design tools and infrastructure into the University. He conducted the CMOS VLSI design course as an elective this semester, which we- the students working in the lab- opted for. The lab, recently, taped out a general purpose CDMA receiver chip of 0.35 micron technology. This success has encouraged us to venture into 2 other chip design projects, one involving mixed signal synthesis. My interest, amidst all this, lies in addressing Signal Integrity issues- this would quench my life long penchant for Electromagnetics.
