I am just beginning to research my family ancestry. My grandfather, Mark Caldwell, born November 18, 1894 and died March 5, 1990 married Susan Emma Ryan (a descendant of Cezar Mattingly). I would love to correspond with anyone who has information on Laura E. Caldwell who was born in Iowa in 1861. I would like to find out more about her and her parents. She married Jonathan Jake Harmon on May 7, 1880 in Forrest City, Holt, Missouri. She pa sed away in 1938 in Whitter, California. Good leads will be welcomed.

So far, I haven't found the link to connect them to the well known ones. I am looking for a George Caldwell who was married to a Jane Winn. They were the parents of a Garland Caldwell who was born in amden, S.C. in 1770. George was born at sea 3 days before the ship docked in Baltimore after coming over from Ireland in 1734. Be sure to check on the Caldwells who settled in the Cataloochee Valley at Waynesville, NC. Henry, born 1759 in PA, made first entry for land in Cataloochee in 1814l. Caldwell homeplace is preserved by National Park Service in the valley. Caldwell's se tled in the valley in early 1800's and stayed until NPS took over in 1934. There is a good-sized cemetery there as well as static displays of census pages, photos, etc. placed there by NPS. James, Levi, William, Robert, Thomas, Andrew are family names. Dr. Betsy C. Farlow, 201 Hodges Dr. Waynesville, NC 28786 has info from the Haywood County Genealogical Society which is helpful in tracing these Caldwells. They came from PA to what was then VA, now W-VA into NC and the valley. I am still trying to ti my family in with these Caldwells but cannot confirm I am on the right track.

I am searching for my husbands Caldwell roots. Grgrandfather Robert John Caldwell was born 1877 in Coleraine, Ireland. He was married in Belfast,1910, to Margaret Drummond. They came to B.C.Canada by 1913, where they had their first born.

Great site! I enjoyed it. My grandfather was John Madison Caldwell married to Margaret McGavock Ewing. I don't have info on Caldwell family but lots on Ewing and Beaumont (Bement). Margaret McGavock Ewing was born 1892 in Tennessee. I believe she and John M. Caldwell lived in Alabama,so I'm not sure where they married. My great grand father was John Madison Caldwell Sr. was married to Caroline Lucy Randall. Can anyone help me make my Caldwell line connection? Just a simple name line from immigrant to John Madison Caldwell Sr. would be great. The Ewing clan has a very similar history, same time of immigration, from Glascow, Scotland, settling in Virginia and building a fort and being a part of the landed gentry of the South. I was astounded to find the Beaumont connection,as my father was William J. Bement, his immigrant to this country were two brothers: John and William Beaumont. Never expected to discover that not only family on my mother's is connected but on my father s side as well. I was also curious if there had been any previous Caldwell/Ewing marriages other than my grandparents as Ewing history has it that Caldwells immigrated with them on thier ships Rising Sun and Eagle Wing and that they were cousins at the t me. Hello there from New Zealand. I was born in Paisley, Scotland and came out here with my parents. My grandmother's name was Isabella Bennie Caldwell b1873 Paisley Scotland. Her parents were John Caldwell & Agnes Bennie m 1866 Paisley. John's parents were Robert & Margaret Gro(o)ve Hope there is a connection out there somewhere, I come from the Renfrewshire, Scotland, Caldwells.went to Australia 1939 and then on to N.Z. with my parents in 1946. Have been back to Scotland 3 times it is still "home" to me. I feel a strong pull to ret rn to ee the land of my birth. But I prefer to live in N.Z.

I found your site while looking for information about Caldwell Castle in Fermanaugh county in Northern Ireland. Most of the family history I have comes from a geneology written by Ray Von Caldwell in 1968. I do not know him personally but your information about the family history confirms his writings and gives a little more detail about the European history that I didnot know. I will probably order a copy of your history soon!
