Great site ! Still looking for my Caldwell connection - My father was Glenn Caldwell , b.1893 in Clay Co,Al. d.1965 in Fla. His father - Joseph Daniel Caldwell ,b.around 1869, d. 21 oct. 1918 in Paris.Tx. His tombstone says J.D.Coldwell. Thank for any help-no death certificate in city, county or state . I need anything that shows J.D.s parents.

great site. My maiden name is Caldwell, and my father has told me the story of the three brothers from Italy....I wasn't sure I believed him. Now I do. My grandfather was Royal Edward Caldwell, and he grew up in Beverly Mass. He was born in 1885 and d ed in 1969. I don't know much else about him, his father was one of three brothers and they were mostly farmers in Beverly.

I am very impressed with your genealogy page on the Caldwell family... Now if I could only find that missing link that connects my family line to one of those three brothers... I will read your family history and see how it compares to what I have found from my research... I can tell right away you have a lot more information than I. I have a copy of the booklet my Father's cousin's did back in the 1980's and one done by Imogene Terry in Texas and I have a line on another one but haven't seen it yet. Enjoyed your site! I just started my family research afew months ago and have already hit a wall on the Caldwell line! My father was Glenn W. Caldwell,born [according to his death certificate] in Clay Co. Al. in 1893. His father was listed as Joseph D.Cal well and his mother as Alice Viola Price. My mother said Joseph moved to Paris,Tx. and ran a livery stable there until he died in 1918 at the age of 49 in the flu epidemic. I have been unable to get a death certificate for him from the state, county or ci y. A nice lady did check cemetary records for me and found J.D. Coldwell ,died 1918 at age 49. If anyone has this line I would love to hear from you.

How wonderful to find your site. It verified much of what my own Uncle Ernie Caldwell had researched and written for his large family. All by snail mail and hand typed on a manuel type- writer and carbon paper so all family members could have a copy. T ere is a great story about a Caldwell family on the Titanic. Your family seems to be located in the western USA and I live in Pennsylvania. Would be interested if there is any connection within the last 60 years. I have not traced back farther than that in the Caldwell line.

No connection within 60 years, however our branch did come through Ohio and there could be a connection further back. It is more likely, however, that your ancestors came from a branch which appears to have entered the US through North Carolina or Virginia--it seems most PA Caldwells did. Our br nch came through Canada. But I remain convinced that we are all connected somewhere, so thanks for visiting, "cousin Harrie!" Maybe we will eventually find our connections through this site!

The correct DOB of Kentucky Lt. Gov. John C. Caldwell is 9/22/1758. He died 11/9/1804 and is buried at Frankfort Cemetery in Frankfort, KY. He is the son of Robert Caldwell (1732-1806) and grandson of John "Club Creek John" Caldwell (1683-1750). We des end from his son, Terrah Templin Caldwell (1793-1868). He was named for the famous Presbyterian preacher, Terrah Templin. Terrah converted to Catholicism at the time of his marriage. He is buried at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Cemtery in Calvary, Ke tucky.

I enjoyed my tour and will be back again to visit. I am very interested in trying to add to what I do know about my ancestors. So far I know that Jospeh Caldwell was born about 1785, had a son named Jacob Joseph born 1807 in NC he married Sarah Wyatt. The had the following children: John Martin b. 1834 in Smythe Co.VA, William Harvey b. 21 Dec 1840 in NC, Easther b. 1842, Morris b. 1844, Wiley b. 1846, Polly J b. 1848, Andrew Jackson b. 1852, and Sarah b. 1857. I've just begun browsing your site. Looks good so far. I can definitely trace my Caldwell ancestry back to a John Caldwell who married Susannah Preston abt 1760. They lived in what is now Craig Co, VA. I am trying to establish John's paternity; I susp ct he belongs to either George, William, or James Caldwell, who proved their importation into Augusta Co, VA in 1740. Wm said to have been born in 1702 and married Mary Gaston. I don't know if these Caldwells are related to the famous John Caldwell of t e Cub Creek Settlement. Also, after reading Gustave Anjou, it seems to me that all the Scottish/Irish Caldwells can trace their descent from the children of Joseph Caldwell and Celestine Daniel of Picardy. I've only been researching Caldwells for abt a ear so have lots to learn. Thanks for the site. I hope to learn alot.

The 1817 Saddle Factory(museum) located in Russellville, KY. was built by Andrew Caldwell and brother David. Another brother, Daniel, a doctor, lived here also. plus other Caldwell. Just thought I'd do the obligitory sign in thing. Is that how you spell obligitory? I hate not being able to spell big words. I guess that's why Webster invented dictionaries. I didn't check out the whole site but I think I got the jist of it. What do you have planned to add to your page in the future? Don't all Mormons do a historical search of their past? Brian, Thanks for visiting our site. Sorry you did not leave an email address so that we could "talk" more traditionally. To answer some of your questions-- Mormons are encouraged but not required to do a search of their ancestors nd most of them do not-unfortunatly. Many of us find it very fascinating and enjoy doing it. Next-our site receives anywhere from 5 to 40 hits per day and we have absolutely no interest in attracting more hits using inappropriate words or materials. If the site can not attrack usage with legitamite, useful material, then perhaps it would be better to discontinue it. We hope to add much more here which may be useful to Caldwells, but it is very time consuming and may take us a while. I have names and information as far back as 1342 AD o Caldwell names and 6 AD on branches of my personal line. Finally--the pop-up adds you see are the price of free space made available by geocities. One question; I can only assume that you are a member of the Caldwell family??

Not checked area here yet but want to show that my ancestors used both the name COLDWELL and CALDWELL as did my granddad (CALDWELL) and his brother (COLDWELL). A group of COLDWELLs are checking things extensively, trying to determine if the first of our ine that landed were CALDWELLs who had descendants with some who began using COLDWELL. It is felt that we are part of the Eng/Scot border/Ireland/MD shiplanding/PA/VA Presbyterian sub-colony group who continued and established church in Hawkings County TN. There Thomas COLDWELL who had aquired land in conjunction with Andrew FORGEY as a result of their Rev War experience brought a wife named --BALLARD and they had son Thomas who m. Sarah (Sallie) FORGEY and they had son Andrew Forgey COLDWELL who went to Harlin co KY There he m. Frances JONES who had 7 children They moved to Laruel Co KY and there A.F. organized a battle group that went to Mexico City near the end of that war. He likely became ill there, but died shortly after his return to Laurel co. Widow Frances married Gen Jarvis JACKSON and ha another child named James C. JACKSON. A.F. and Jarvis are burried on each side of Francis in a hill top cemetry at London KY. Their son John Crittenden COLDWELL/CALDWELL b 3/12/1838 was my Ggrandfather. He and his bro Doctor Thomas Peyton COLDWELL b 2/24/1842 (and 2 bros with contact totally lost)were active in Civil War.
