Your page on the geneology of the Caldwell is by far the best site that I have viewed for some considerable time. It is good to see that someone is taking the time to research into our family name and put it onto the web so that other family members can look at it. The type of information within this site can make many people who have the name of Caldwell proud to be a member of our family and know that our history is both rich and colourful. Sincerely. Your home page has alot of information, but nothing much on what I was looking for. I need to find a CALWELL-HALL marriage in AL around 1819-1820. My greatgrandfather was James Calwell/Colwell HALL, as a result we think his mother's madian name might ha e been CALDWELL. . .it's a long shot, but it's better than facing the brick wall we have hit!

I was searching for information on CALDWELLS and came across your page. I was very surprised to see my name on the index. I am listed in the Ancestral File through the L.D.S. church but I was surprised to see me on the net. We are looking for the father of William Floyd CALDWELL, Married to Lucinda Barnett in 1879. We feel that his father was Hugh CALDWELL and mother DOCIA (DORCIA). William Floyd CALDWELL was born in Knoxville, Knox Co. ,Tenn. in 1829. The story is t at there were 3 CALDWELL brothers that went to Knoxville, Tenn. I did find 3 CALDWELLs in that area in 1830. Hugh was the only one that would have had a child that age. My sister Joyce Ann (CALDWELL) Johnson is also working on this line. William Floyd CALDWELLS first wife was Melinda STOKES. They were married in 1852 in Osage Co. , MO. They had 9 Children. Lucinda and William Floyd had 6 Children. They were married in Maries Co., MO. Any information would be very much appreciated. I really would li e to know the connection to where our direct line came from. Keep up the great work. Debra Lou (CALDWELL) d'Argy

I am always happy to make the acqaintance of another Caldwell. ay, do you know anything about the Caldwell's of Pigeon Forge/Knoxville, TN. I have been trying to trace my grandfather Filo (or Philo) Caldwell's line. All I know for sure is that he marri d a Mary Miller (a lady Cerokee on her mother's side) and had at least 7 children John, Frank, Don, Ron, Suzie, Raymond, and Dennis. My father, John Caldwell was born and raised in Knoxville , TN. He (Filo) retired from work in quarry after he laost an eye in an accident. Unfortunately, my family was more about running moonshine than keeping family records. Nice to meet you.

Greetings from Victoria, BC, Canada! I've only recently began to research our family roots, but have some excellent documents to help me on my way that were saved by my grandfather. My g-grandmother was Rachel Jane Caldwell who died in childbirth in 1897 or 1898 (I'm awaiting info on this). She was married to James Jeffrey and they resided in Ontario - likely Grey County where my grandfather was born. They had had four children, tw who were adopted by the Hindson family after her death, and two adopted by the McLellan's. So far I've not been able to find out anything about Rachel Jane Caldwell, but with the new OCFA ver6 there is a person by this name (finally) in Crown Cemetary and I've written to get the cemetary records. Cheers!

They immigrated to Canada after 1819. I look forward to your comments, Sincerely David

I try to visit your site once a month but I keep forgetting to sign-in. Sorry. I too have elusive PA Caldwells. Great, great grandfather L. E. Caldwell, sorry but I have not found anyone who knows his given name, was a plumber in Waynesburg, PA, in the late 1800's. He married Mary McCurdy. They had two living children, a son Frank and a daughter Lyda. Lyda Caldwell married Charles R. Parker in Waynesburg around 1900 and had six living children. Frank Caldwell married Catherine(unknown?)and had two living children. L. E. and Mary died after 1921 as I have a prfessional photogragh of them with the children and grandchildren dated 1921 and from the ages of the grandchildren this is correct. So far I have not been successful in connecting to other known Caldwells in the county at the time.
