James
L. Buxton, Jr., born in Newburgh, New York, is an artist, educator and activist.
He received his BFA from Cornell University in 1982 with a major in
sculpture and minor in African Studies. He then went to The University of
Pennsylvania for his MFA in sculpture and printmaking.
Presently, he is a full
professor of art at Central Connecticut State University.
Mr. Buxton stated that he is a student of life and approaches his art
making in the same way. "My
goal is to always strive to achieve that next level of consciousness in my life
