James Buxton

James L. Buxton, Jr., born in Newburgh, New York, is an artist, educator and activist.  He received his BFA from Cornell University in 1982 with a major in sculpture and minor in African Studies. He then went to The University of  Pennsylvania for his MFA in sculpture and printmaking.  Presently, he is a full professor of art at Central Connecticut State University.  Mr. Buxton stated that he is a student of life and approaches his art making in the same way.  "My goal is to always strive to achieve that next level of consciousness in my life and in my art making."
