DESIGNER: Ucchan WORN BY: Benma 1/2 CONCEPTION: April 2000 PICTURE DATE: 7-30-2000 APPEARANCES: SDCC 2000 COMPONENTS: Pink dress, black sash, white tights, black school-girl shoes, red wig with red bow and hairclip, character watch, base and lip gloss only. PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes (plus shaving, done separately for far longer.) POWERS GAINED: 1. Can fly. 2. Ice breath. 3. Eye beams. 4. I'm so cute!! DRAWBACKS: 1. I have to shave my legs! 2. Alternating between the Ranma style and Blossom style of the wig is not fun. 3. Can't bend over, can't stand higher than anyone, and must sit with legs crossed (ouch). STORY: Originally one of the script ideas we were tossing around, when we decided to do Batman Beyond, Ucchan said, "Well, we're going to do Powerpuff for walkaround anyway!" And since we already have the appropriate wigs, I'm to be Blossom and Ucchan is to be Buttercup. Ucchan drafted one of her students, Kodachi, to be in the BB skit as well as Bubbles for our walkaround. And Principal Kuno opted for Professor Utonium. We pleaded and pleaded for Trunks to be Mojo Jojo, but he would not have it, and it was too late when we realized that he could have been Butch of the Rowdyruff Boys. So Ucchan asks me what my measurements are, as she is making all three dresses so that they are uniform in size. I tell her, and she translates it into a size 18. The pattern only goes up to 16. She has Principal Kuno try on the size 16, since we are almost exactly the same shape and size. And he can barely fit; if he moves, the sleeves will rip. So we have to add 1' strips to each seam of the dress to make it larger. I told her size 18... Anyway, we didn't get to do a full walkaround, but still got a decent response. My Blossom and Kodachi's Bubbles got the most attention, and I wonder if that wasn't because Ucchan's Buttercup wig wasn't styled the way it should have been (no time!) But we still had a great time, if short, and freaked out Takahashi Rumiko when she signed my Ranma #1. A guys voice from a girl's outfit combined with a white guy speaking Japanese. You had to be there.
