Chess Variants from the Delirious Bughouse Variant
In
Hans Bodlaender's page of Chess Variants there is a link
to the
Delirious Bughouse Variant, a totally zany variant that I play
with a friend. However, since this variant has a strong random element,
it incorporates lots of ideas that, alone, could generate almost
normal games. I'll try to list all those inner variants here,
with links to the almost normal variants that they may
generate
Resumed Rules
This text is not intented to be full explanation of the Variant;
those who wish to understand how it is played, and how it
evolved, should look at the
Delirious Bughouse Page, where there is a sample game
Each move was a random d13, or a number from 1 to 13. The numbers
1-6 were coded as "The Best", the numbers 7-12 were coded
as "The Worst", the number 13 meant a bonus piece or
event.
If the player was entitled to a bonus piece or event, then a
random d6 was thrown: 1-3 meant a chess-like
piece, 4-5 meant a funny event, 6 meant a
magic item
