21 May 1924: Come to pay their respects to the family of President of the Cairo Jewish community Moussa Cattaui Pasha.

Eulogies read out by publisher of La Liberte Leon Castro, Sugar company director and head of Ambulance Service Henri Naus Bey, Monsieur Adda Trustee of the Jewish Schools, Osman Murtada Pasha former governor of Alexandria and head of the Benevolent Orphanages Association and lastly by Monsieur Abramino Menasha director of several Jewish charitable foundations.
15 April 1925 obituary in al-Ahram of Massoud Haim Ben Simon (1869-1925). He was Grand Rabbi of Egypt from 1920 until the arrival in March of the new Grand Rabbi Haim Nahum Effendi.
Al-Ahram 19 March 1925. Arrival in Port Saiid aboard the S.S. Andre Lebon of Haim Nahum Effendi Egypt's new Grand Rabbi. Scheduled to spend his first night in Cairo at the residence of Mr. Iskaki, Nahum Effendi is scheduled for an audience at Abdine Palace the following day. He shall be introduced by Minister of Transport Youssef Cattaui Pasha to His Majesty King Fouad.
Laying of the ground stone of Cairo�s Israelite Hospital was covered by the local press. Here�s what al-Ahram had to say on that landmark event in its 27 April 1925 issue.
Under the auspices of the Jewish Benevolent Society the Jewish and medical society celebrated yesterday the laying of the ground stone on an empty piece of land on Ghamra Street, Cairo, soon to become home to an important medical institute, situated next to the palace of Boghos Nubar Pasha.
The new hospital shall reply that already in existence in Garden City [Victoria Hospital on Nabatat Street].
On this occasion a large tent was set up on the empty land decorated with Egyptian as well as foreign flags. Flowers could be seen everywhere. The royal emblem could also be seen.
Three separate enclosures within the tent were set aside for official dignitaries, members of the hospital board and members of the press.
At precisely 17:00 cars and buses started to arrive bringing the honored guests. Among their excellencies was Youssef Cattaui Pasha who besides being minister of transport is president of Cairo�s Jewish community. Also present was the Minister of Awqaf Mohammed Ali Pasha, Minister of Agriculture Tewfik Doss Pasha, Minister of Education Ali Maher Pasha, Cairo Governor Mahmoud Sidki Mohammed Pasha and Undersecretary for Interior Mohammed Shahin Pasha. In attendance were the foreign envoys and consuls accredited to Egypt.
Among notables of the Jewish community were Grand Rabbi Haim Nahum Effendi and Victor Harari Pasha.
Maintaining order and filling in as ushers were members of the Jewish Scouts. The Royal Anthem was palyed by the Jewish orchestra.
During his opening speech, in French, Youssef A. Cattaui Pasha did not fail to mention the late Moussa Cattaui Pasha who had promoted so many charitable organizations among them the hospital about to be launched.
Abramino Menashe made the following speech, also in French, thanking His Majesty King Fouad �who in his graciousness never discriminates between his subjects.�
At this point the talk reverted to the benefits of the new hospital made possible thanks to the several Jewish charitable organizations always fending for the poorest among the Jewish community.
Names of the benefactors were mentioned with the late Moussa Cattaui Pasha leading the pack especially his Jewish Charity Foundation created in 1917.
Before the celebrations ended at 19:00 the dignitaries jointly placed the ground stone along with Mrs. Cattaui Pasha.
Al-Ahram announces return of Haim Nahum from holidays at coastal town of Ras al-Bar where he spent 5 days at Hotel Alsan and where he received all the honors from the governor, the members of the police force, politicians and MPs, as well as the other holidaymakers.
Haim Nahum Effendi's funeral service at Shaar Hashamayim (Adly Synagogue) following his death on 13 November 1960. He was appointed to the senate in 1931 by King Fouad.
