This band is very mellow. Don't get me wrong - they go
nuts in their own way and they get into their music, of course. But the style of the music
is one that is appropriate to either the beginning of the night or the end of the night.
You know, when you're sitting around with your friends in deep conversation and there's
cool but not frantic or loud music in the background to ease you into or out of the night.
By the time you've had a few drinks, you start swaying to the music and you're ready to
bop your head a little to this band's catchy, fun tunes. They are upbeat and melody-driven in a early Beatles sort of way. One or two songs had me and my partner squabbling over whether or not a song was an original or a Radiohead cover (it turns out that they were all originals except for one Beatles song). As I said, the songs are catchy and fun. They had me smiling and feeling friendly most of the night. One distinctive thing they did - at the end of one song, the drummer, then the lead guitarist did little solos. It was impressive in that they showed their speed and accuracy. However, I felt that if they were going to show off, they could've slowed down and showed skill instead, even though I was impressed (this is just my preference). Rating: Overall, I liked them. They're definitely made out for radio. The Boys:
Mistery Machine tip of the month: Asthma. Their best song. I love the breathing at the beginning . Booking and contact info: (917) 850-9910. Ask for Frank. |
