Yes, this is Keith Caputo's new band, former lead singer of Life of Agony. Forget what you knew of Keith in LOA, absolute bloom is an entirely different animal. Keith has calmed down, not emotionally, but in how he expresses his emotions. The lyrics are just as biting and impacting, but his voice has softened, the music is calmer than his previous band's. If anything, Keith has matured and accepted many of the events of his life.

absolute bloom is by far the best Brooklyn home-grown I've seen yet. The lyrics are full of (dare I say it?!?) agony, yet you can hear mature reflection and even yearning in the songs. The way they are sung emphasizes the truth of emotion in the words. The singer's voice is somewhat nasal, almost whiny, but, again, it compliments the lyrics (which, by the way, you can hear clearly - a huge plus for me!). He's sincere and adamant in his songs and puts his entire entity into singing them. You can see the veins in his neck standing out on his short little body.

OK, enough about the singer, what about the rest of the band? Make no mistake - this is not a focus-on-the-singer-only kind of band. The music alone would bring this band all the way. They play confidently and clearly. Each of the members are in sync with each other, from the harmonizing to the drums and guitars. I only heard them fuck up once, and they clearly acknowledged that. They actually stopped and said 'OOPS!'. The drummer is incredible, very creative and sure of his playing.

Rating: Aaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!! I love them. If it's the only band you go see, see them!

The Boys:

Keith Caputo: Vocals, Keyboard. Short, shy, boy from down the block. He'll cover his eyes when he meets you, but wait 'til he's on stage - he definitely blooms!
Michael Dagostino: Drums, Percussion
Pete Freglette: Guitar, Backup Vocals. He's doubled over his guitar. Strange.
Billy Kelly: Bass, Backup Vocals

absolute bloom tip of the month: Listen to Carousel. The music actually goes up and down, like a carousel!

Guest Reviewer: Since my roommate/best friend loves this band so much (and dragged me to see them, Thank God), I've decided to invite her as a guest reviewer. Go to it, Tanya!

The band is great. If I didn't know Keith personally, I would still love absolute bloom. The songs and music are incredible. But since Keith is an old friend, I can say alot about him personally. Throughout the years (this is going way before LOA), I can say that he is one hell of a guy. He is sensitive, loving, caring and all that good shit. Even though he is in a band and has toured the world, he is defenetly not a stuck-up prick .

Though he is shy, he is willing to talk to you. I introduced him to Jess and he covered his face. I thought that was cute. I remember when he first began singing, He always kept his eyes closed at all times. Now he is able to open them. Way to go Keith. I always thought you had beautiful eyes.

He has had a very hard life, but as Jess says, he has blossomed. He writes about it and you can tell in his expression on stage. I am extremely proud of him. He is a good example for anyone that wants to give up on the things in life and feels that they can't make it. If he can, so can everyone else. I was so glad to see him after such a long time (4 years). Everytime I see him and we talk, he has gotten stronger. I can say that he has made his dreams come true. I love you man. Keep living your dream and never let anyone stand in your way. For all those out there that liked LOA, put your CD on. This is absolute bloom. They're totally different and they rock.
