"One thing you can count on: if you run it for more than a couple of miles, you'll see a lot of different scenery," writes John Abate, webmaster for the Reston Runners. "In the stretch I use, the surrounding terrain varies from the side of existing highways to wooded areas to shopping centers to fairways at the Herndon Golf Course. In some areas there is an adjoining horse trail that many runners use because it's easier on the knees. For the most part the trail is gently rolling and paved. There are water fountains along the way, which make it ideal for exercising in the warm weather."
