Separation

I smile
     You smile

I wonder
    thinking
      Is it for real
          or make-believe
               just to make me
                            feel alright

It's OK
I understand
You don't have
            to pretend

I can handle it
I'm adult now
           not a child
                 where a smile
                      means the world

Don't smile
       for my sake

It's better if you show it
Better to end it now
       than prolong the agony

We are just kidding ourselves
                playing childish game
                       laughing when there's
                              nothing funny about it

Say it
     in my face

If this is goodbye
            then take care
                        my friend

It's one heck
        of a journey
              with it's high
                        and low

I know
    don't explain

I understand
        sometimes
              we make a choice
                        we say goodbye
                                       
Not knowing
    If it's worth leaving
          your friend behind
