"Take sides.  Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim.  Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented."
                                             -Elie Wiesel

We have read
Night and have extensively discussed the issues surrounding the Holocaust. When writing the reflective essay,  please keep in mind Wiesel's warning about how indifference allows inhumanity to exist and destroy lives.  Remember that you have a responsibility to help those who are less fortunate.  Whether you live in the United States or another country, you are a part of the human race, and it is your duty as a humanitarian to speak out for those who have no voice.  I hope the novel has moved you to examine your own humanity so that you can make a difference in a world that can often be cruel and unjust.  Remember, one person can make a difference.
