Afghanistan has had a long history of war on its land. Most people might remember and think of the Soviet Invasion as the beginning of Afghanistan's war but there has been a lot more than that. This piece on the Taliban will hopefully clarify and give new perspectives to Afghanistan.

The links to the right would also be extremeley helpful places to find answers to the religion of Islam. Struggle to know the truth, it is worth it.

Refer especially to the first link to the right to grasp a better understanding of the piece below.

Islam and the Taliban

In the country of Afghanistan there is a conflict going on that involves so many situations and conflicts that it would be near impossible for anyone to understand completely and truly what is going on. The only people who truly know about this conflict are the Afghan people and true Muslims who know about their religion. This is a fact because the mainstream very often converts its material into much more false information that can only benefit none other than what the media is aiming to benefit. Islam is a very good, peaceful, and peace-aiming religion and the Taliban's treatment of women in Afghanistan carries many reasons that are hidden from people and completely distorted. To prove that what the Taliban are doing complies with what the Quran ("Koran [which is] the sacred text of Islam"(Rahman, 1).) permits we can turn to the example of the Taliban not allowing women to wear make-up. This is a question asked by a curious Muslim woman in which a mullah answers on a topic about wearing make-up that reads, "Asalamualaikum. My question concerns make - up. I was wondering if it is haram to wear makeup in public (as in front of men who I wear hijab in front of.) Is it not recommended or actually haram? Are there certain types of makeup that are haram and certain types that are not? Please explain why it is or is not haram. Sincerely, Nura." And the mullah answers, "Dear Sr. N. As-salaamu alaykum. Yes, in Islam, it is Haram to wear make up in public, i.e., in the presence of people you have to wear the Hijab in front of, because make-up adds to the beauty of a person, and revealing physical beauty in public is not allowed. The products you can use are skin cleansers, lotions, skin conditioners, etc. as long as they do not have strong smell or change your appearance. Thank you for asking and God knows best"(IslamiCity). "Haram" [in English] means "forbidden".
"Assalamu Alaikum [in english means] peace be upon you"(Rahman, 1). Everything in Islam goes towards peace. The "make-up" fact and the phrase "Assalamu Alaikum" is something that many, many, people in America don't know, and further more, this also proves more then anything else, that Islam doesn't punish the female gender, but nourishes and protects it, which I think is a lot better then having hookers and prostitutes running around and being disgusting. "Taliban" in English means "students of religion [or more specifically, students of Islam]"(Elvin, 34). The majority of Afghans make up the Taliban group and America got into this conflict of Afghan vs. Afghan only with its own interests propelling it because if that wasn't true then America would have considered the peace talks that the Taliban offered and before getting involved they should have had concrete evidence that proved that the Taliban committed the Sept. 11th incident or was involved by "giving aid and comfort to the enemy"(Elvin, 34). The Sept. 11th incident looks like it opened up a path for America that gave them a long-awaited excuse to come into this conflict also to show the Taliban as a terrorist organization when they are really only a group trying to promote Islam on the remaining communists that call themselves the northern alliance. This is another question asked by a Muslim seeking knowledge on the Talib's by asking a mullah and so it reads, "Respected Moulana, Assalam-o-Alaikum. I thank you very much for the answers of my previous questions. Now I have few more questions: -1) I have read your answer regarding the activities of Taliban in Afghanistan. In an Islamic State when shariyat has been introduced, there is no justification for La Ikraha Fiddeen for Muslims. This can be applicable for non-Muslims only. In case of Muslims, I feel, that Taliban are quite justified in forcing Muslims to abide by Islamic laws.
As regards women it is premature to comment. We have to wait for some times to know their final decisions Thank you Wass-salam." And the Mullah answers, "Dear Br. Shameem: Assalamu alaikum, Islam is given to us by Allah (s.w.t.) to make life better for Muslims and non-Muslims. Shari'ah is the Islamic Law, and it is very large and comprehensive. Punishments under Shari'ah is one small aspect of it, and can only be applied after the Muslim government has fulfilled its duties to the people. It is not proper that the first thing a Muslim government to start with of applying the Shari'ah is punishing the people even before giving them time to learn & adjust to it. We want the people to learn Islam and start applying it by choice, and we don't want them to hate it. Islam is a Mercy to the world! The Prophet (s) said:'' Make it easy, and don't make hard!...'' Did the Prophet (s) start his message by punishing the people? The government of Taliban should fulfill the needs of the people first then expect from them to abide by the law. As for treatment of women, Islam came to give women their due rights and enlighten them to be able to raise the next Muslim generation on true Islam. It is not Islamic to cancel women who are half of the society, and forbid them from getting their education. We should apply Islam not culture! May Allah (s.w.t.) guide us all to learn and practice true Islam, Ameen. Assalamu alaikum"(IslamiCity). "Shariah [in english means] Islamic Law"(Rahman, 1). This proves two of my points, one would be that Islam promotes peace and not war, and the other one would be that there are people who do not know the situation and conflict. What the Mullah said is completely true because a Mullah is a person who teaches Islam and not cultural history, but if he knew the whole deal then his knowledge would be
complete and flawless for this issue. Facts like this also show that the media can misguide everyone. The solution to both of these problems would be to give people the real truth. When the media talks "[it] says nothing of the Taliban behavior toward citizens and guests of the country"(Elvin, 34). This is true because if it weren't then everybody would be agreeing with what the media says but since its not, people know, find out, and so disagree. Once again, Islam is a religion of peace, "Islam is not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam is both a religion and a complete way of life"(IslamiCity). Thus I conclude that the beautiful religion of Islam is in fact, no matter what the media or anybody says, a peaceful, loving, true, complete, pure religion that if the whole world were to follow, absolutely all problems would be solved.
