Around ten-thousand acres were declared as a national park by the Mexican government 40 years ago. Bordering with Guatemala, actually there's no border limited except the lakes, these lakes are world wide known. 400 kilometers away from the Lacandon rain forest the surroundings had turned into sierra with an altitude of 1600 meters above the sea level. The humidity of the jungle has turned into a windy climate. However, 65 lakes wait to be discovered in a unforgettable adventure.

Directions

The most common to get this place is to drive or take a tour from San Cristobal de las Casas, which is the closest city, toward Comitan then drive to Guatemala, and an hour after had left comitan the lakes could be seen.

Many lakes can be observed from Chinkuiltic Ruins
