It is famous due to its handicrafts: typical clothing, tablecloth, napkins, embroidered clothing, lacquer objects and wood products.

San Cristobal de Las Casas, located in the region known as "Los Altos de Chiapas". It has beautiful buildings from sixteenth to nineteenth Centuries, paving stone streets in the old "Barrio Del Cerillo" (Match Neighborhood) and small plazas and houses with red roof patios full of flowers.

Very close to San Cristobal, San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan are Ttzotziles communities, which still keep their traditions, customs, believes and social organization. Amatenango Del Valle is famous due to its pottery made by Tzeltales women with Pre-Hispanic methods cooked directly on fire.
