On
Sunday, November 2, 2003, a choir of voices will sing out in honor
of the beauty and wonder of families created through adoption!
Anyone whose life has been touched by this miracle will want to be
with us...and all who don't understand the miracle should be
with us! Please be a part of this very special event, which
coincides with National Adoption Month. The program will take
place at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. |
|
Adam Pertman, author, Pulitzer Price nominee for his book Adoption
Nation, and Executive Director of the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption
Institute, will inspire and challenge
with his Keynote Address, "Welcome to the
Revolution." |
Kathryn
Creedy, Executive Director of the Institute for Adoption Information
and author of the Educator's Guide to Adoption, will discuss
curricula that may be problematic for children who joined their
families through adoption. In addition, she will cover how
parents and teachers can help children navigate these and other
school issues. |
|
|
The
afternoon program will include a Panel Discussion with adults who
joined their families through adoption, as well as adoptive parents and
adoption professionals. Kerri-Lee Halkett of Good Day
Philadelphia will be the facilitator. |
Author
and Anthropologist John Edward Terrell will present his point of
view in "Another Perspective." |
|
|
Programs
for children will be offered concurrently with adult programs.
Philadelphia's own "Two of a Kind" will perform music that
celebrates the theme of the day. A storyteller will share warm
and loving tales. Local Artist/Educator Andi Lieberman will
guide children in creating a special "quilt" of
self-portraits. |
Kids
will also enjoy "My World" with Regina Levin,
MSW, ACSW, 15-year adoption professional. Each child will make his/her
own personal universe of the
sun and planets - the sun being him/herself (the center of the
universe!) and the planets each being identified as something
important in the child's life. All will discuss how adoption
affects all those parts of their world...
|
|
Children
under 4 will require a parent or guardian to participate in all
workshops.
All
participants
will also have an opportunity to enjoy a beautiful family photo
exhibit by Chris Whitney of Doylestown, relax over lunch, and purchase adoption-related items and
remembrances of the day.

a rich, heartwarming experience! Click here for registration
