- Lake Hornborga 11th - 14th April
2002. A short break to watch the amazing dancing Cranes as
they gather at Lake Hornborga before embarking on their final short
journey to their nesting grounds. We stay in a castle right on the edge of
the lake - watching the Cranes fly past to their roost as we dine! We also
visit other areas of the lake and surrounding woodland for species such as
Red-necked and Slavonian Grebes, White-tailed Sea Eagle, Osprey, Marsh
Harrier, Bean Goose, Whooper Swan, Garganey, Fieldfare, Redwing, owls and
woodpeckers. From £750
Greece - Lesvos 18th - 25th April
2002. Lesvos remains amazingly popular. A variety of habitats - forest, olive
groves, pools, marshes and mountains - on this unspoilt Greek Island.
Countless migrants enliven each day - Golden Orioles, Pratincoles, waders,
raptors, flycatchers, pipits and chats briefly join breeding birds - Kruper’s
Nuthatch, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Hoopoe, Cinereous, Cretzschmar’s and
Black-headed Buntings at this time of year. We usually see around 130-135

Romania - Danube Delta & Carpathian Moutains 28th
May - 6th June 2002. Stunning mountain scenery and flowers where
we look for Ring Ouzel, Wallcreeper, Firecrest, Black Redstart and Brown
Bear in the Carpathians. Followed by three days drifting around the Delta
in our pontoon (all cabins with en-suite facilities) where we look for
Pygmy Cormorant, pelicans, herons and egrets, Kingfisher, Grey Headed and
Black Woodpecker and much more. Afterwards a couple of excursions into
Dobrogea where shrikes, Roller, Bee-eater, Red-footed Falcon, Long-legged
Buzzard are amongst many species to be found on this dry countryside on

Seychelles 23rd August - 4th
September 2002. Staying on Mahe, Praslin and Bird Islands with visits to
some of the smaller ones (Aride, Cousin and La Digue). Seychelles
is an expensive destination and we make no apologies for wanting the best
for those travelling with us. We have selected excellent hotels on each
Island. Bird Island is the most fantastic place to spend the last
couple of days of this tour. Visits to other islands are included and we
have engaged the services of a most popular and well known guide in the
Seychelles for Mahe and Praslin. 1000’s Sooty Tern, Fairy Terns,
Magpie Robin and other birds only found in the Seychelles. Opportunity for

Scotland - Islay 20th - 26th October 2002. A birdwatching spectacle on this beautiful Scottish Island which
has everything - gorgeous scenery, fabulous birds, a feeling of isolation,
a great small hotel with excellent food and seven distilleries! We hope to
experience all these features plus the Paps of Jura. Our main quest
however will be the thousands of Barnacle Geese assembling here
from the North, plus resident Golden Eagle, Chough and Raven. There are
also many species of sea duck, grebe and divers - and it’s migration
time. Mammals include Seals, Red Deer and possibly

Courses
based at Juniper Hall, Dorking, Surrey
Waders and Wildfowl - 1st - 3rd November 2002. A weekend
intended for those wishing to learn more about the subject in an informal,
relaxed way. We use a combination of classroom (slides, tapes) and field
visits to The London Wetland Centre and Farlington Marshes or Pulborough
Brooks to understand and learn in small groups. £135.
Birdwatching for Absolute Beginners - 5th to 7th
April 2002. On this weekend course we go right back to basics - what
binoculars and field guides to buy and how to use them, fieldcraft, where
and when to watch birds simple identification. A combination of indoor
session and plenty of time in the field visiting local commons and woods.

2003 Tours
We shall be returning to and
leading many of our tours listed for 2002 in 2003. In addition, in 2003
we plan to include tours to the French Lakes (Cranes & Woodpeckers)
in February/March, Northern Greece in April/May, Spanish Pyrenees in May
