The SLC is a non-profit education and demonstration centre established by HS Wong in 1998 and incorporates his ideas and belief that urban homes should be food - producing units. For his ideas to be relevent to modern urban / city life the techniques used are based on those developed by the permaculture movement that are essentially a "no-dig, no-weeding, lazy man's" approach to agriculture. Gardens are planted intensely with a wide variety of crops and plants without the use of chemicals.

Visits to the SLC in groups of 10 to 15 can be arranged by contacting Permaculture Sdn. Bhd. for a nominal contribution of RM10.00 per head towards maintenance and administrative costs. Visits by students are free. Make cheques payable to Permaculture Sdn. Bhd.

Mr. Wong is not associated to Permaculture Sdn. Bhd. in anyway except in employing them as contractors for constructing, maintaining and managing the SLC.
