2nd Annual Miniature Quilt AuctionHeld in conjunction with Riverfest, Leavenworth, Kansas September 7-10, 2000
Bids will be accepted: Thursday and Friday 5pm - 8pm, Saturday 9am - 8pm Winners to claim quilts: Sunday Noon - 3:00pm Held at the Riverfront Community Center at the interesection of Delaware and Esplanade. All proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Leavenworth/Lansing Cancer Society for mamograms and other womens issues. Last year (1999) we raised over $600.00 for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society through the auction of miniature quilts. Thanks to all who have supported this worthy cause in the past. We look forward to seeing you at this year's event!
Why Miniatures? Many of us are ecstatic when we finally finish a quilt. However the idea of completing a large quilt for charity is quite daunting. We decided to scale down our ambitions to a miniature size. This endeavor makes every one feel good: Our members actually finish a project, bidders have a wide selection of wonderful quilts to choose from, and the local American Cancer Society chapter benefits from the auction proceeds. We are all planning our next "do-able" project!
