RETURN TO
Mr. ROWEN'S TRAVELS

Vietnam is a long thin country right below China. It goes from mountains in the north to flatlands in the south. All the way through the country are many rivers, especially in the south, where there are more rivers and canals than roads. Vietnam is a country of beautiful natural places and beautiful smiling people.

Vietnam is very near the equator so it is really hot. Especially in the south of the country where it was over 90 degrees in January. Because it's so hot and there is so much water, Vietnam has plants growing all over the place. More than anything else, Vietnam grows rice and there is rice growing almost everywhere you look.

Similar the China, Vietnam is both a very old country and a very new one. All over Vietnam you can see women wearing the conical hats that they have worn for hundreds of years. Many people still farm the lands the same way they have for generations. But in Vietnam's big cities they have tons of motorbikes and traffic.

One thing in Vietnam that is everywhere are smiles. All over the country, in the north and the south, the people were so friendly, they were so inviting, and always happy to meet you.
