I personally cannot think of any other way in which the writers could have disposed of Jadzia. The easiest solution was to kill her off. However, I am angered that such a complex character was killed off at such a late stage in the series. It certainly did not benefit the series, but it did not harm it in any way. I initially thought that the death of Dax would have disastrous consequences for the show's final season. But having viewed all of season 7 I must say that the writing was still top notch! The show ended with a wonderful finale and I for one await it's return with anticipation! It is true that no one character is bigger than the show itself., I was totally against the idea of introducing a new character to the show in it's final season but I must say that Ezri was a welcome addition to DS9. I don't think she was intended to fill the void left by the death of Jadzia, as she is a very different character. The writers obviously realised that it would be futile to try and replace Jadzia with a similar trill character. Ezri was fresh, vibrant. Her getting to know the crew, as well as her interactions with various crewmembers, were interesting to watch. It provided some light relief from the ongoing Dominion War., I have heard it said that DS9 is the best Star Trek series since the original, and I for one agree! The writing is ALWAYS top-notch and the relationships between the various characters are true to life (although I must say that I HATED the Odo-Kira thing, It was better when the show focused on his UNREQUITED love for Kira) But DS9 is gone (only for a short while I hope! )and we are left with the atrocious ST:VOY, which has used so many Trek clichés that it's become embarrassing! I strongly believe that if Paramount does not get its act together, no one will be watching Star Trek in 35 years from now., The franchise is in trouble! Fans worldwide are becoming disillusioned. DS9 was Trek at it's best, and what do they do? Cnc!

el it after seven short seasons! Voyager has all but DESTROYED the franchise and now we are being bombarded with yet another series - ENTERPRISE. What Paramount, and Rick Berman in particular, does not realise is that the fans don't want to be hit with another series, another new ship, another new set of characters. We want the network to keep the characters that we know and love (Kira, Odo, O'Brien) alive and well.

It was really a shame that Terry Ferrall quit the show. After Jadzia' s death...the show really lacked alot...
She was honestly my favorite character and the show just wasn't the same after.

Ezri cannot fit the roll. No one can replace Jadzia.

I can't really say, but the only thing that I want to see now is reruns of DS9, but there is no reruns! All that's on TV is that...Voyager. I really miss DS9.

I loved the show. I loved Jadzia Dax.

Dax's death was tragic and it made me cry :(. NO I definitely do not think it will benefit the series coz although I like Ezri, I will miss Jadzia very much (you're starting to think I'm a freak already aren't u!)

Not really, she's a wonderful but very NEW character., It already has been and I'm very sad but I live in the UK and did not get satellite until after the series was finished so I have not seen the final episodes yet :), The Star Trek Universe is one of the very best things in the real universe and DS9 is my favourite part of it. The box below hardly describes my feelings

I think that Dax's death was tragic. I didn't expect it and I think her death will not benefit the series., Ezri has not been able to fill the place of Jadzia Dax. She is not also able to handle the symbiont as well or the memories., television will not be the same if Deep Space Nine is cancelled after its seventh season., Star Trek:DS9 is the greatest shows. It has unforgettable characters and lessons we can learn.

When I found out that "they" killed off Jadzia I went into morning so am not looking forward to seeing it when it comes on the TV, As yet I have not seen that episode so can not comment, No it will not.

The Star Trek series is just about the only thing that I look forward to during the week. So I will miss it very much , As a whole the show has always been a top shelf production and I would like to see the story continue. I don't know where it can go to from here but would like to see more. Because I can never have too much of Star Trek.

I LOVE all aspects of the series

It was unfortunate to see terry farrell leave, she was the better dax, her talent combined with her killer good looks brought so much to the series. nicole de boer took a tough job trying to fill her predecessors shoes, but she managed to do it admirably., it has given us continuity, she did her job with her own flair and did it well., life goes on with or without startrek, but its more enjoyable with it. you can say the same now about voyagers upcoming series end. but hopefully series 5 will keep the trek spirit and hope for a combined future for humanity alive., simply put, i love all different series and movies, its spawned some awesome computer games too. anyway its just cool.

No, she was a well established character and contained half the feminine sex appeal of most episodes.

No.

Only if Voyager Continues, Do Major Kira and Odo EVER get together.

I think was a shamw that Terry Farrell chose to leave the show, especially condidering the position of her relationship with Worf. We may never meet a Klill/Tringon??

NO!!!!! She is short, she flirts with Julian Basshir, she has freckles, she doesn't like Raktajino (sp?)...etc... , voyager will go on, Kathryn Janeway will carry the baton..., GREAT!

It ruined the show. Her death did not benefit the series. Instead it made it the beginning of the end for the series. Does anyone know why she was killed off?

No. It's very odd and uncomfortable.

Voyager is starting to get good. Perhaps they could incorporate JADZIA in the final series., I love Star Trek!

No. NO. HELL NO!

Absolutely not.  I haven't watched TV since. (except an occasional episode of Becker, just to see how she's doing), It was the best of all 5 series...and perhaps it should have ended when it did. But the fact that in the final episode, nobody remembered Jadzia really upset me.

Originally, no. But the creators did add a new dramatic intensity with the neophyte Ezri!

She embodied a kind of insecurity which never would have emanated from Jadzia!

NO!!! Political intrigue at its best defined DS9's seven years! It will be sorely missed!, DS9 had a grittiness which reflected current times akin to the original series. Characters didn't get along as famously as on Next Generation for a more 3D feel. Plus the irony of Colonel Kira forever revered as a liberator of Cardassia! Delicious! Amazing how this series came full circle from its beginnings, more so than any of the other Trek outings!
