This course is designed for those who wish to take charge of their health through improvement in their lifestyle patterns of health and wellness. Through education and awareness of your daily routines you will find ways to deepen your knowledge of how to find more energy, make sound nutritional decisions, reduce stress and explore complimentary therapies to add to your current medical practices and lifestyle. This is a series of 5 to 8 classes (depending if it is a group or individual).
This workshop explores different "diets" currently popular in our society. Discussions include the concept of conscious , food and emotion, 'diet lifestyle' changes, basic nutrition, exercises, food for health and goal setting. Participants will learn to make choices appropriate to their life style and create a balance which will improve their overall health and vitality.
3-6 classes
Stress Reduction for Yourself and your Family
This introduction to the physiological and psychological effects of stress helps each of us to cerate an awareness of the "big picture" of health and wellness, we will explore a holistic approach to managing our stress and its effects on our children and family. First, we must gain control of stress ourselves to be able to educate our children. By the end of this class you will have experienced a "mini" relaxation, and suggestions to assist our families with daily stressors.
1-2 classes
Stress Management for Teens -(adapted for teens)
Stress management can improve the quality of your life and improve overall health and wellness. This workshop will focus on learning simple doable and time conscious techniques that you can incorporate in your daily routine regardless of how busy you think you are. In a supportive group (or individually) environment participants will develop a sense of understanding the mind-body connection and learn positive ways to balance and enhance mood states in your personal and professional lives. This is an interactive workshop focused on immediate success in stress management. Introduction to mindfullness meditation, guided imagery, yoga and relaxation response are included with these sessions.
4-6 classes
The Relaxation Response is a series of coordinated physiological changes elicited when a person engages in a repetitive mental or physical action and passively ignores distraction thoughts. The alternatives include decreases in oxygen consumption, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. These are the exact opposite to those that occur during the stress response.
1-2 classes
This class is designed for those who have heard about the chakra system but would like to have it demistfied. Basic information about the seven energy centers and their relationship to health and well being will be discussed. Materials discussed are based upon works from Caroline Myss Ph. D.
1-3 classes
Explore the difference in "good and bad" fats, carbs. and proteins. Learn how real food can be the key to a healthier lifestyle and how processed foods, sugar and additives are detrimental to our health. Understand the glycemic index why Diabetes Type II, heart disease, aetherosclerosis and gastrointestinal disorders are so prevalent today, even with young children. Each person will make their own food inventory and search simple ways to improve their choices for all over healthier eating patterns. This is not a "diet" - but a road to healthier ingestion, digestion and elimination. This is an interactive class, focusing on awareness, prevention and goal setting.
