WELCOME to the Minnesota Connection: Where the COLD and HEAT compete!

Many of you may not realize it, but Minnesota is part of a Northern tier of states that has
been dubbed: 'Vacation Land USA'! 'Tourism' is a staple of it's economy and people
from all over the world come to enjoy it's natural beauty all year round.

Oh! It wasn't always like that. When Minnesota joined the 'Union' in 1858, it was mainly
a farming economy and it's 10,000 beautiful lakes, with their abundant bounty of fish and
wild rice, were still a 'pristine' treasure-trove. Due to the harsh winter conditions,
Minnesota's population was mainly a mixture of the hardiest native tribes and
descendants of Germans and Scandinavians, who were accustomed to the, sometimes,
drastic changes that occur in regions that experience all four seasons each year. While
residents would have you believe there are only two seasons: Winter and Construction,
the fact that there are four, in twelve months, is a mixed bag of 'blessings'.

Spring and Fall are 'transitional' periods and can raise havoc for anyone's planned
activities. More than once, a warm 'Spring' day or a colorful 'Fall' day has turned deadly
when a sudden snow storm swept in and the temperature dropped so fast that people,
caught unaware and unprepared, have frozen to death!

Summer and Winter are a 'bit' of a different story. Though their duration is dependent on
the 'mildness' of the transitional seasons, once they're in full swing, people can pretty
well count on the summers being HOT , and infested with mosquitoes (often referred to as
the State bird), and winters that are COLD with lots of snow that often makes it hard to
even go anywhere! 

In the early days of Statehood, that didn't matter...much. The 'modes' of transportation
weren't that great and most people didn't 'travel' very far from home. Besides...who had
the 'time' to go anywhere? To eke out a 'living', in the fields of Minnesota, was hard
work and the harvest HAD to be done before the onset of Winter. The word; 'Vacation'
was almost foreign, once the fields were planted, the 'locals', knowing the 'season' could
be short, fished and hunted to assure that there'd be meat on the table through the harsh
winter, when only the 'hardiest' of the hardy dared to venture out!

All of that changed when advancements in technology and modes of travel made 'life'
easier for everyone. Hunting and fishing became 'pastimes' to while away 'leisure' hours,
Minnesota's lakes country became a 'summer' vacation Mecca and 'Tourism' emerged
on the state's economic landscape. Unfortunately, the emerging 'Tourism' industry raised
havoc with the state's budget because it's 'income', by nature, is basically a matter of
'boom' or 'bust'! But...not to worry! Residents, born of 'hardy stock', with a 'CAN DO'
attitude and resourceful nature set out to make 'Tourism' year round! Eventually, the
'Winter Wonderland' doors were opened by snowmobiles and people came, from around
the country, to ride the frozen rivers and forest trials and 'life' was GOOD in Minnesota!

Now...'Life', period, is notorious for it's 'Ups' and 'Downs' and nothing can depict that
better than when 'tragedy' strikes while someone is 'enjoying' their vacation in the 'dead'
of winter in Minnesota!

Think of a family enjoying a 'Winter Wonderland' vacation by snowmobiling on the river
and marveling at all the 'beauty' that presents itself around each bend as the river, just
like life, twists and turns through it's entire course. Now...picture, if you can, that 'happy'
family going around a 'bend' and suddenly the ice breaks, plunging the entire 'party' into
freezing water! In short order, people would be out there, on the ice, working together to
pull the family out and building 'fires' to warm them as they waited for 'help'.

Sadly, many a 'life' has been cut short from such 'accidents'.  Year to year, ice conditions
vary and it's impossible to 'post' every area of 'bad' ice that can be thin, for any number
of reasons. In Minnesota, where safety is an integral part of their 'Tourism' industry, in
the event of a snowmobiling fatality, on any water way, the entire area is immediately
posted with signs that warn of 'THIN ICE'!

Unfortunately, in today's world, such 'postings' are delayed while people sort through
rules and regulations to determine who is ultimately responsible for doing that 'job'.
While they bicker about who could/would be held 'accountable' if it's not done right, the
job doesn't get done at all. But, fortunately, native Minnesotans have, what many call, a
'stubborn' nature. It comes from having ancestors who 'thrived' because of the 'Just DO
it' philosophy that encompassed any 'task' that needed 'doing'. Most Minnesotans would
think it a 'safe bet' to claim that if a 'Danger' sign hadn't 'posted' by the time surviving
'family' members were released from the hospital, they would “DO IT!' themselves!

All of this has been noted, because what follows is a 'chronicle' of a Minnesota 'family',
who posted a 'Warning' sign in 1997, with limited results. Strangely, that 'sign' may
finally be doing what it was suppose to do, but is it in time? The 'bad' ice has gotten
worse and the 'threat' that it poses, puts every American 'family' at 'risk' and that
includes yours!

- My name is Jan Beimdiek.
- My 'family' has lived in Moorhead's Morningside Edition since October of 1974.
- On June 14, 1990, following graduation from Moorhead High, my son, Scott Michael
Beimdiek entered into the service of the United States of America.
- Following Navy Boot Camp and A-School at Great Lakes, IL, he was stationed at
Balboa Hospital in San Diego, CA.
- During the Gulf War, he served, Proudly, with the 5th Fleet Hospital in Saudi.
- Following Marine Boot Camp at Camp Pendelton, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
- On Dec. 29, 1992, while serving as a Hospital Corpsman in Okinawa, Scott assisted
with the retrieval of the body of US Airman, SSgt. Brett Emerson Presnell, and
immediately disputed the 'manner' of death being ruled as a 'suicide' despite evidence to
the contrary.
- Three (3) weeks later, Scott's body was found hanging in Camp Foster and the 'manner'
of his death, in direct violation of 'stated' Policies and Procedures was 'ruled' at the
scene as an 'accident'.
 
City says sign has to go

Jan Beimdiek considers her yard sign, which says her son was murdered, to be a warning.

But to the Moorhead Board of Adjustments, it's a noncommercial opinion sign far larger than regulation size.

So the red, white and blue sign, which has stood in the corner of the Beimdieks' yard at 538 Appletree Lane for the last four years, has to go, the Board of Adjustment decided unanimously Tuesday.

The sign testifies to Bill and Jan Beimdiek's belief that their son was murdered, not killed in an accident as a government investigation concluded.

Scott Beimdiek was a 21-year-old hospital corpsman in Okinawa when his nude body was discovered hanging in his barracks room in 1993.

The government ruled he died accidentally of autoerotic asphyxia – death in the process of cutting off oxygen for a heightened sexual experience.

But over the last 9½ years, Jan Beimdiek has researched the case and compiled a list of discrepancies she says proves her son was murdered, perhaps beca! use he was raising questions about deaths of other enlisted men.

“We have irrefutable proof, but we have nowhere to go with it,” she said in an interview before the meeting.

But Board of Adjustment members said the content of the sign is irrelevant. At 32 square feet, it is more than five times larger than the 6 square feet allowed for signs in residential areas.

And after the city received a complaint about the sign, it had to order the Beimdieks to remove the sign, unless the couple could prove special features of the property merited a variance from the city ordinance.

That's why the board voted 3-0 to deny Beimdiek's request for a variance.

“It's not the issue of the opinion,” said board member Rick Hoganson. “It's a protection to our neighborhoods that needs to continue. And there are many other venues for citizens to express their opinions.”

Because the Beimdieks live on a corner lot, City Planner Matt Glaesman said they could erect two 6-foot signs, one al! ong each roadway. But Beimdiek said that wasn't enough space for the message.

And that message has to get out, she said, because any family with members in the military could face the same situation if they are not warned of the problem of homicides and cover-ups within the armed forces.

“If you were approaching thin ice, would you rather see two small signs, or would you rather have one big one hit you in the face?” she asked.

Beimdiek said she will appeal the board's decision to the Moorhead City Council.

And she won't give up, even if that fails, she said.

“This is my First Amendment right – do not step on it,” she said. “If I have to go to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) I will.”

Jan Beimdiek, keep up your good work. Your sign in your yard in Moorhead should stand as it is.

Rick Hoganson, Board of Adjustments member, said, “It's not the issue of the opinion.” And also said, “It's a protection to our neighborhoods that needs to continue. And there are many other venues for citizens to express their opinions.”

All I can say about that is maybe Hoganson should read the sign rather than measure it. And what is Hoganson protecting people against? Near as I can tell he is protecting us from people expressing their opinion the way they want on their own property. In fact, when I read the sign, I could not help but to think: Love your country dearly, but be a good parent.

I think the sign is a shining example of love and determination. Fargo woke up and kept their sign up (Ten Commandants). It seems she is waking up Moorhead. I really think it is too bad when people worry too much where a sign is, rather than the important message it is saying. If ! I had a yard Beimdiek could sure put her sign on it. I have a hunch she may have many neighbors both in Moorhead and Fargo that feel the same.

And Moorhead. Don't you have many other things to worry about? How about neighborhoods which many do not dare walk or drive through? How about neighborhoods (with no signs) people would never move into except a last recourse? How about along the railroad tracks where it looks like a war zone? Apparently not, if all you have to do is go push around some people with a sign in their own yard with a good message.

All, I can hope is the mayor and the folks on the City Council are brighter than Hoganson and his cohorts. Otherwise, it's obvious they are opening a big can of worms.

be a good parent.”

It's TRUE! I'm JUST a mother and a dumbed down 'bottle Blonde' at that! BUT!!! I do
know a few things about keeping an 'orderly' home and 'balancing' the family books.
I know that:
- When one is draining dirty bath water, to clean out the 'scum'...you do not let the kids
play with their 'boats' in the toilet!
- When a picture is 'crooked'...you do not straighten it by turning it upside down!
- When the 'budget' is overdrawn...you do not keep moving the charges from one credit
card to another!
- When the house is 'dirty'...you do not just pick up a few things and 'call it good'!
- And when the rest of the 'family' is scared and feeling overwhelmed by a world that
seems out of control...you do not let them hide under the bed with the 'hope' that the
Boogie Man won't get them when the house is on FIRE!

Our 'Ship of State' is in the 'toilet' and if it gets 'flushed' WE will ALL be 'up Shit
Creek' without a paddle! PEOPLE! WAKE UP!

- On February 19, 1999, 'The Washington Times' printed an article by Phyllis Schlafly
titled: 'Unheeded warnings on Kosovo intentions' (to view the entire article go to:
http://www.suc.org/politics/kosovo/html/Schlafly021999.html ). Former President Clinton
was in some pretty 'dirty' water and an 'impeachment trial' was under way. Though
Clinton's position as 'Commander-in-Chief' had always been dubious, he clearly
understood the military principle that 'The best offense is a good defense' and he
deceitfully and deviously planned to 'move on' and 'cover up', all at the same time.
(Does 'Killing two birds with one stone' sound familiar?) The fact the he was 'allowed'
to implement 'arrogant' plans, with a 'don't rock the boat' philosophy, is outrageous!

CIA Director George Tenet had warned the Senate that “There is not the slightest doubt
that Osama bin Laden, his worldwide allies and his sympathizers are planning further
attacks against us.” Deputy Defense Secretary John Hamre was floating the idea of
designating a unit of U.S. troops as a 'Homelands Defense Command' and the Army War
College was predicting the “the growing prospect of terrorism in our own country...will
almost inevitably trigger an intervention by the military”.

Does any of this sound familiar? What is wrong with this Picture?

- On September 11, 2001, terroists struck America and 'War' was declared. Right? At last
report, Congress, in a 'go along to get along' manner, had only sanctioned the 'Powers
Act' and in essence, allowed one man to 'declare' war! As wrong as that was...today,
Afghanistan lays in ruins, but there's now a 'call' for a 'Regime Change' in Iraq...this
coming from the 'Land of the Free'? (Hitler was, at least, honest about his intent to
'Conquer' the world...our leaders just want to 'Police' it! See the History Symposium on the Little Red Hen page of this site.) And worse...Congress is being expected, by 9-11-02, to 'sanction' a plan to lift existing restriction on the use of the military for domestic police functions and bypass the 'Posse Comatatus Act' of 1878...if we allow for a 'Police State', now, is 'Martial Law' next? (Can you say...”Give them an inch and they'll take a mile!”?)

recent of abuses that result when a 'virtual' state of 'Martial Law' is allowed to be the

- President Bush has enacted 'Corporate Fraud Law' through the bill H.R. 3763 because
of major improprieties of accounting in 'Big Business'. Does 'Business' get any bigger
than our Federal Government? With money so tight for the 'average' American, how can
'we' be making promises to 'rebuild' countries we've devastated under the 'guise' of
protecting ourselves? What price...priorities? The Navy, the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration and the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, VA have $6.5
million to excavate and recover the turret of the USS Monitor...yet we have military
personnel needing Food Stamps! (??) If our safety depends on 'Defense' wouldn't our
dollars be better spent on defense, rather than going into one country after another, to root
out 'terrorists' and decimating those countries? If we don't have the money to pay for it
all, where do we go to get 'bailed out'? The UN? Is this where the 'New World Order'
comes in? Are we selling our 'soul' for the 'profit' of a few?

- Andrew Jackson is credited in saying, “There are no necessary evils in government. It's
evils exist only in its abuses...”

Our government...including 'elected' officials, who 'fail' to DO their job...has a LOT of
'Accounting' to do and it's NOT just on the 'monetary' front with 'cooked books'! There
are major problems in our military, starting at the top with it's 'Commander-in-Chief'!
(The house is 'dirty' and needs to be cleaned!)

“WE the PEOPLE” need to shed timidity or fearful deference to the very structures that
have betrayed us. Our 'Leaders', with unbridled addiction to power, are under the
delusion that they are somehow above the rest and can't (or won't) be held responsible
for the horrific consequences of their various 'scandals' and cover-ups! It' no wonder
HOW they got deluded. It's been 60 years since the horror of Pearl Harbor and some of
what happened that day is just not coming to light! At:

Kenneth Landis, USNR (ret.) as it existed on December 7, 1941, and two other Pearl

the USS Pennsylvania, Admiral Kimmel's flagship. Seemingly, Lt. Commander Kenneth
Landis presents a compelling argument that the President and top military advisors
betrayed their Armed Forces. By allowing the enemy to attack first, the government
swelled public support for the war and hastened America's participation. An
unconscionable 'manipulation' that hung our people out to dry (and die!). So...WHO did
WHAT wrong? As there's really no one left, to hold accountable...it boils down to the
FACT that they 'got away with it'! That's how it works! 'Suppress the TRUTH' long
enough (so no one's left to take the blame) and perpetuate the message: “You can get
away with anything, including MURDER”!

The issue of questionable deaths in the military is scandalous (see Journalism 101 on the
Little Red Hen page of this site). It's an insult to all who've been placed 'In Harm's
Way'! The scandal grows with the rising number of military members lying in graves
with their name sullied and their reputations assaulted. Many families have expressed
being depressed by the thought that it could take 30 - 60 years for their loved one's
dignity to be vindicated and restored. Knowing that such a vindication would NEVER
happen under 'Martial Law' is nearly devastating! WE have to say, “ENOUGH”! (and
mean it!)

Benjamin Franklin famously said that if we exchange liberty for security, then we will
ultimately have no liberty and no security. Our country has been 'reeling' since 9-11! (see
the 9-11 Message on our home page) True! We want to 'feel safe', but it's 'frightening'
to have so many people, who tell 'pollsters' that they are willing to 'Give up a few of
their freedoms to do it'! The men and women, who've died to set and keep us FREE must
be rolling over in their graves!  

It didn't get this bad over night. The 'ELM ST STATION' site that J Pendergrass has
posted at: http://www.zianet.com/elm-st-station gives some insight as to how it happened.
Better yet...he offers a 'thought' about how to 'clean' it up. A bluntly paraphrased version
of his 'idea'...have PEOPLE (you and me) demand that the 'Gutless Wonders', we've
sent to represent US in Congress, put a 'Cap' on and rescind all the Presidential Decisions
Directives (PDD) and Executive Orders (EO) that threaten a de facto dictatorship of U.S.
citizens. (And MAMMA adds...Bring our sons and daughters HOME...not to police us,
but to protect us while we all step back and sort through all this dirt!)

Truth be told, the Beimdiek family wants it gone too. It isn't now and never was intended
to be a 'lawn ornament' (unique or otherwise!)  In fact, from day one, it has been a source
of stress. (STRESS: That confusion created when one's mind overrides the body's desire
to choke the living shit out of some asshole who desperately needs it!

Trying to explain the sign, got to be like an exercise in futility. The more that came to
'light'...words like; 'At Risk' or 'Vulnerable' seemed etched on people's foreheads. Yet,
at the same time, it was frustrating...trying to determine what and how much information
to share with people, to demonstrate the problem without appearing to be an 'alarmist'
kook! Unfortunately, it's by design that 'issues' like this seem 'complex' and thus tend to
confuse and overwhelm everyone. That's why this web site is here...so you can learn
more about it. Only informed people are empowered people. Only empowered people can
keep America the greatest country in the world.

UPDATE!

On July 20, 2002, the Beimdiek Family was contacted by Yohei Mori, who is the
Washington DC bureau chief of Ryukyu Shimpo, an Okinawan Paper. Mr. Mori said that
he’d read an article about our “house sign” on the Washington Times. He noted that he
was very interested in Scott’s case and wanted to write an article for his publication.
Though it was never made clear, why he thought an ‘Okinawan’ public would be
interested in the ‘issue’ of questionable deaths in the American Military, Mr. Mori was
directed to the MAMMA web site and given permission to write an article about the
‘issue’ of questionable military deaths. This permission was contingent on the provision
that it’s content was approved, by the Beimdiek Family, prior to it’s publication. To date,
there hasn’t been any indication that Mr. Mori ever wrote such an article.

On Sept. 8, 2002, Mr. Geoff Gray, father of Pte. Geoff Gray ( see page 4 of the ‘Situations
Section’ at this site ) contacted MAMMA. Noting the similarities of the ‘Situations' posted at MAMMA to the “pattern of cover up” that currently has the media, from the UK, playing a roll in the campaign he’s initiated since the military ruled his son’s death was a ‘Suicide’. Additionally he noted that he’d been given the link to MAMMA by a TV company “doing a documentary about how British soldiers have died in suspicious circumstances.”  (Can you say: “Deja vu”?)

A visit to Geoff Gray’s website ( http://www.justice4ptegeoffgray.co.uk/ ), an exchange of
E-mail and a subsequent phone call conversation with Mr. Gray was like looking into a
‘mirror’ at a ‘Fun House’...one that could distort time! A ‘time warp’ that seems to
encompass a 10 year time frame...starting in the United States with efforts to launch the
Until We Have Answers group and ‘reflected’, 10 years later, in Geoff Gray’s ‘campaign’
to get a ‘public’ inquiry into ‘questionable’ deaths in the military. The ‘premise’ being
that men and women, serving their country and now lying in their graves with assaulted
dignities and sullied names, deserve the decency and respect of having the ‘Truth’ being
told about their deaths!

The distorted ‘mirror image’ and ‘time warp’ phenomenon got wider and deeper on Sept.
16, 2002.

It all started at 7 PM, when the Moorhead City Council met in the first floor Chamber
Room at City Hall. The fourth item on the ‘Meeting Agenda’ reads; “Citizens Addressing
the Council”. At that time, anyone wanting to address the Council is to step forward and
‘speak’ to the Council Members. On behalf of the Beimdiek family, Jan Beimdiek,
Directing CEO of MAMMA, stepped forward and read the following prepared statement:

- My name is Jan Beimdiek.
- My son, HM3 Scott Michael Beimdiek was Viciously and Violently MURDERED
while serving in the military!
- His death - is 'officially' listed as an accident.
- Like a growing number of US service members, the circumstances surrounding his
death...cast doubt on that ruling from the start.
- Families, like ours, are depicted by the military as distraught and in denial.
- 'Officials' are assured that EVERYTHING has been taken care of and ALL our
questions were addressed, when in FACT...NOTHING was done to 'build' any sort of a
case and evidence, submitted by the family was just stuck in a drawer somewhere and
their actions, or lack thereof, smacks of malfeasance.
- By the time any of these families realize this...efforts to 'speak up' and ask for
HELP!...equates to an 'alter boy' being expected to stand up, during MASS, and accuse
the priest of RAPE!
- While no one would expect a 9-11 family to 'Build the case for the murder of their loved
one...THAT is EXACTLY what is expected of these military families!
- AND...by the time we DO get the case built we can't connect with ANYONE who
COULD...HELP us!
-Buffer staff, for our elected officials, are assured that there’s BEEN an inquiry, on our
behalf and it's hard to impossible to point out that THAT is a LIE!
- Yes...crap, like that makes a person Angry and Frustrated and DANG! if we don't end
up LOOKING...distraught!
- Members of our military are in a situation of RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT and this
EVIL needs to exposed!
- As concerned citizens, aware of the vulnerability of our fellow citizens and neighbors,
we’ve posted a ‘Warning Sign’...to alert others of the potential hazards that await them,
should they fall ‘victim’ to this Evil and travesty of ‘Justice’.
- The Board of Adjustments says the ‘Sign’ is to large and recommends two ‘smaller’
signs, that would be allowable because our lot is a ‘corner’ lot.
- We do not believe that ‘smaller’ signs would fill the bill as a ‘WARNING’ needs to
stand out and smaller signs wouldn’t cut it. OK?
- We are asking for your HELP and not just for us to keep the ‘Sign’.
- Men and women, the ‘children’ of families, like ours...willing to ‘lay down their lives’
for ‘Truth, Justice and the American way of life’ deserve the respect of having the truth
told about how they died!
- When the ISSUE of Scott’s...and ALL the others, who lay in their graves with an
assaulted dignity and sullied name is redressed...rest assured, I will personally take that
‘Sign’ down...myself!

A Moorhead woman can keep her yard sign that says her son was murdered.
 
Jan Beimdiek’s sign can stay, though it is five times larger than city regulations allow and
in the public right of way, the Moorhead City Council decided Monday on a 6-1 vote.
 
That’s because the sign, which has stood on the lot at 538 Appletree Lane for four years,

Beimdiek says she has compiled a list of evidence proving his murder was covered up by
the military.
 
After a citizen complained about her sign, city staff discovered it was in the public right
of way, an area reserved so the city can widen streets or sidewalks or access utility lines,
City Planner Matt Glaesman said.
 
If the 32-square-foot sign were moved from the right of way, it could no longer be
grandfathered and would have to be removed. Regulations allow Beimdiek to have two
6-square-foot signs, Glaesman said.
 
The Moorhead Board of Adjustments told Beimdiek in July she had to remove her sign.
 
But the council made an exception for Beimdiek Monday, saying her situation was
unique.
 
The sign was constructed before the ordinance, and placed on the right of way by an
honest mistake, Councilman John Rowell said.
 
“There are no other large opinion signs in people’s yards that cause concerns,” he said
when asked about setting a precedent.
 
Lauri Winterfeldt-Shanks voted against the sign remaining, saying she wanted to be fair
to all residents.
 
“What of the rights of others to have their neighborhood comply to the same standards as
every other neighborhood in the city?” she asked.
 
The decision was bittersweet for Beimdiek because she wants to be able to take the sign
down – once her son and others like him have justice, she said.
 
“I don’t want the darn thing,” Beimdiek said after the decision, her voice choked with
emotion
.
The council’s decision stipulated the sign must be moved if the city ever needs the right
of way.
 
Councilman Brian Gramer didn’t attend the meeting.
 
In other business, the council offered $75,600 in tax incentives to a Moorhead law firm
that plans to build two office buildings.
 
Smith, Bakke, Hoveland and Oppegard plans to build office space for itself and for rent
near the intersection of 17th Street South and 30th Avenue.

Following the Council Meeting, the notation that “the decision was bittersweet” was
definitely an understatement. As noted, the ‘Sign’ is not intended to be an ‘unique lawn
ornament' so being able to ‘Keep’ the “yard sign” is NOT a Victory of any sort. When the
Beimdiek Family is able to ‘take the Sign down’...THAT will be a VICTORY!

But...even as the feeling of frustration, over the ‘WIN’ at the Council Meeting, was
enveloping the Beimdieks, as they returned home that evening, the ‘time warp reflection’
phenomenon was just kicking into ‘High Gear’!

While the Beimdieks had been at City Hall, Jan Manship/Milligan, mother of Pte. Alfred
Manship (see the ‘Situations Under Construction ' page of this site) contacted and joined
MAMMA. From that point on, even the scope of the ‘Issue’ of exposing the ‘Truth’ about
questionable military deaths has become ‘surreal’!

While preparing the postings for Geoff and Alfie, there were lots of articles and other
material to sift through. One article, posted July 27, 2002, by Paul Kelbie, the Scotland
Correspondent for the Independent Newspaper Report, was practically ‘haunting’!

The article quotes Mr. Kevin McNamara, Member of Parliament for Kingston Upon Hull
North, who formerly served as a “defense spokesman”, as saying: “There have been 1,748
non-combatant deaths in the British Army in the past 10 years. That is an awful lot of
deaths.” and additionally noted: “In some ways it looks as if it is more dangerous to be in
a barrack room than to be on the battlefield in the British Army.”

Is it possible for one’s mind to go on ‘overload’ when it’s flooded with memories? Mine
seemed to! These comments jogged detailed thoughts of US military death rulings:
- ‘Suicides’ that make ‘NO Sense’ and defy all laws of nature and common sense!
- (preventable) ‘Accidents’ that will happen again, unfettered by deterring consequences!
- ‘Self-inflicted Accidents’ make the case for there being a ‘perfect’ murder cover-up!
The memories of one ‘case’ even mocked the concept of the ‘battlefield’ being ‘safe’
from ‘questionable’ death rulings...at least on the American side of the ‘pond’!

According to testimony that can be reviewed in the U.S. Government Printing Office
Washington: 1997 publication titled: S. Hrg. 104-823 HEARING before the
Subcommittee On Personnel of the COMMITTEE ON ARMED SERVICES UNITED
STATES SENATE One Hundred Fourth Congress, Second Session, September 12, 1996:
“...PFC Patrick A. Wanke, was found dead in his vehicle about dawn on 24 March 1991, in AsSamawah, Iraq, from a gunshot wound to his forehead on the day of his unit’s return to Saudi Arabia for redeployment back to the States after serving 194 days in the Persian Gulf, from September 11, 1990, to March 24, 1991. He was allowed to depart alone at about 2100 hours the evening before to return to his unit, and he never arrived. He was unaccounted for, in enemy territory, before the permanent cease-fire, for almost 9 hours, with the estimated time of his death as being between 0200 and 0300 hours on 24 March 1991...The most significant ...”material deficiency”...the caliber of the projectile which was removed from (Wanke’s) skull several days after his death is not the same caliber of the projectile which all their testing was conducted on, and it is not the same caliber as his assigned weapon carried which the CID ROI says was used in his death!”
The military and the DoD maintain that PFC Wanke’s death resulted from self-inflicted
‘Suicide’! (???)

Now...maybe it’s just a ‘Mamma’ thing, but every Mother of school age children knows
about the ‘Proximity Phenomena’. Simply put: Once a ‘child’ starts school, no matter
how ‘well behaved’ and ‘healthy’ they are...they will bring home every ‘bad habit’ and
‘virus’ with which they come in contact!

Soooooooooo! Learning that Pte. Manship was the first of the tallied deaths, where a
Ministry of Defense (MoD) verdict of ‘Suicide’ was ‘questioned’, noting that he died on
April 6, 1992, and memories of the Wanke ‘case’ all led to considering that this is a
‘military’ version of the ‘Proximity Phenomena’. (???) Simply put: During the Gulf War,
the U.S. Military’s cover- up ‘habit’ and the ‘virus of violence’ strain, developed and
implemented into Interdisciplinary Fields of training...seem to have ‘spread’!

The military expects it’s members to work hard and be prepared to make great sacrifices
for their country. In return, the military owes a ‘debt’ of care towards the people in its
charge and a responsibility to ensure their safety. Instead...the living and dead ‘heroes’
that honor and serve their country in uniform are being treated like ‘throw away’ street
urchins and THAT must STOP!

In Minnesota, the Autumn leaves herald the coming of Winter. This year it’s not just
Snowmobilers who are eagerly awaiting it’s arrival with the ‘ Cold’ that will kill those
annoying mosquitoes. It’s been a long ‘HOT ’ summer and it wasn’t just Mother Nature’s
heat and humidity that made people uncomfortable. As the ‘West Nile Virus’ made it’s
way across the country, people were urged to wear ‘protective’ clothing. Everyone got a
little ‘hot’ under those collars when word spread that the ‘Virus’ was one of Iraq’s
biological weapons and the ‘finger was pointed’ at Saddam, the human equivalent of a
‘Mad Dog’! We were told that we’d been attacked and the ‘War Drums’ started beating
incessantly.

Now...word, like light filtering through those colorful leaves and casting shadows on the
horizon, is coming out that casts doubt on that scenario. According to the Associated
Press (AP), in the 1980s, when the United States supported Iraq in its war against Iran,
the CDC and a biological sample company, the American Type Culture Collection, sent
strains of germs to Iraq. Iraq got ‘samples’ of anthrax, the bacteria that makes botulinum
toxin, germs that cause gas gangrene and many other deadly pathogens, including the
‘West Nile Virus’!

The AP quotes Jonathan Tucker, a former U.N. biological weapons inspector as saying: “I
don’t think it would be accurate to say the United States government deliberately
provided seed stocks to the Iraqis’ biological weapons programs.” Well...duck hunters in
Minnesota will tell you: “If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, most likely it is
a duck!” Many will also add the sage advice that: “You reap what you sow”!

Close your eyes and picture little boys sitting an a sandbox throwing sand at each other.
Can’t you just hear them?
“You started it!”
“No, you started it!”
“Did not!”
“Did too!”
Blah, blah, blah, blah, BLAH!
This scene is familiar to mothers. Mothers know that at some point they have to step in
and say, “That will be enough of that!” They know that if they don’t call for ‘a time out’
and sort out the bickering, before things get out of hand, it will escalate into a fight and
one, or more, of their children will get hurt.

Right now, in the sands of Middle East, there’s a growing number of young men and
women, sons and daughters of mothers worried sick by the GAMES, that are heralded as
the precursor to a WAR that we’re told is needed to destroy biological and chemical
weapons being stockpiled by Saddam. What is wrong with this scene? Where are all the
adults, who should be monitoring and sorting things out? Isn’t it time that somebody says,
“Enough!”?

This is an election year and people get more than a few opportunities to express
themselves. So express yourself! Tell Congress that you expect them to act like ‘adults’
and say, “Enough!” Tell them to call for a ‘time out’! Insist that they sort this mess out! If
necessary, remind them of lessons they should have learned during their childhood...that
time in one’s life when  mothers try to teach that:
- You don’t back a ‘mad dog’ into a corner...it will attack!
- You can’t play with a venomous snake...it will strike!
- You can’t do things just because everyone else is doing it...they may jump off a cliff!
- You can’t believe everything you’re told...some people lie!
- You don’t start fights...that makes you a Bully!
- You don’t tell lies...one leads to another and another and soon no one will trust you!
- If you make a mess...clean it up!
- You are responsible for what you do or don’t do...there can be serious consequences!
- Two wrongs never make a right...don’t try to cover up one wrong with another!
- If you make a mistake...rectify it!
Blah, blah, blah...all boils down to the ‘Golden Rule ’...”Do onto others as you would
have them do onto you!”

America is the last of the ‘Super Powers’. That status was attained and has been
maintained based solely on a desire to live in PEACE! Other countries, some
begrudgingly, have learned to respect that about America...knowing that if we’re pushed,
we’ll push back and if we’re attacked, we’ll tromp them into the ground! But always,
other nations have trusted that America will not start a war. Will other nations, who
already have nuclear weapons, continue to trust and respect America if we start a fight in
the Iraqi ‘sandbox’? Tell Congress enough is ENOUGH!

Yes, winter is coming and in Minnesota it could be long and cold, but we will adapt to
the wiles of ‘Mother Nature’. A winter caused by a nuclear war would be mighty LONG
and it’s doubtful that anyone could adapt...in Minnesota we know: “IT’S NOT NICE TO
FOOL MOTHER NATURE!”
