THE PLOT JUMP:

What happened between “Four Days” and “Old Man Winter”

In 2002, plans were at an advanced stage for Book 14 of GMS LEGION. Unfortunately, the book was indefinitely postponed by a number of factors. Many of these stories will be presented online in due course, and perhaps one day collected into a bound edition. Until then, here’s a quick rundown of what was meant to happen and when:

Do the Teen Theeng (October 1987) - this four-part story is now available online for your reading pleasure. See http://members.fortunecity.com/teentheenggms.html.

Homecoming (Oct. 1987) – Set six days after the events of the above, this two-part story will appear online in the summer.

Destruction (Nov. 1987) – This one-part story will appear in the summer.

The Great California Girl Cover-Up (Nov. 1987) – This one-part story will appear online in the summer.

Dogs of War (Nov. 1987) – This three-part story, with a cliffhanger ending which was meant to lead into Book 15, has been fully scripted. Neal is meant to do the art and I hope he might sometime. This is the third story to deal with the Gambolini crime family of Detroit (following the previously-published “A Bullet for Zippy Morocco” and “The Hollow Earth Theory”) and guest-stars the Liberty Squadron of Trojan High. In it, more of the mysterious “L2” subgroup of the team comes to light. Colossal Kid and California Girl take leaves of absence in its aftermath.

Mayhem in the Motor City (Nov. 1987) – The action shifts to Detroit for this unscripted five-part adventure wherein the Legion take the fight to Gambolini’s turf.

Monday Will Never Be the Same (Dec. 1987) – Scripted and provided to Dan Baker for artwork, this one-part story sees Matter Lad in a funk after Husker Du, his second-favorite band, splits up.

Gunfighter in Mexico (Dec. 1987) – Dave Merrill has pencilled this extra-length episode, set at the beginning of Christmas break, in which Scandal High hero Gunfighter takes a road trip with some of his allies.

Relapse (Jan. 1988) – This two-parter resolves the cliffhanger Neal introduced in Book 13’s “The Dream Academy” story, where everyone in the Sprayed Berries High Defense Force has been sharing a strange nightmare, and a transfer student named Kim exhibits a bizarre super power.

The two-part Old Man Winter was planned to close Book 15. It is available for your viewing pleasure at http://members.fortunecity.com/oldmanwintergms.html.
