I would like to preface the following section by saying that I am an admitted animal lover. I do what I can in my own quiet way. I allow my heart to lead me. I am not loud and I am not "militant" about expressing my beliefs.. There are many reasons for this, but mostly because I become defensive and obstinate when I am approached in an aggressive manner by anyone who is trying to make me see that their way is right. So, in fear of turning away a possible "animal lover convert", I choose to be responsible for my own actions first, the actions of the people around me, second and the rest of the less enlightened world, last.. "Lead by example", should be the activist motto.
That said, I would like to turn your attention to so-called "puppy mills". Not much makes my stomach turn quicker than that word and the horror it describes. There is no doubt in my mind that puppy mills and other mass production animal traders need to be closed.. We can not continue to passively allow these sick and greedy people to make money off the tortured souls of animals.
There are so many little souls who, for whatever sad reason, have been abandoned by their previous families.. They are waiting under the increasingly louder tick of the clock for a new family who will look into their eyes and see the potential they know they have.
By boycotting puppy mills and the pet shops that buy from them, we help stop the torture of helpless animals and save the lives of scruffy little guys with loads of happy-potential!
By signing petitions and pleading to our legislators, we let our collective voice be heard and the souls of tortured creatures everywhere rest.
