New
Restaurant Coming
24/05/2001 |
We
all watched sadly as "Spot the Magic Dragon" closed its
doors for good and left our cosy little community. But
all things must change, and now we have a brand new eatery
to welcome to the Spot family - Jesse's is here to fill
the void.
Scheduled
to open on August 13th this year, Jesse's will offer the
very best in bistro-style cuisine, coupled with your choice
of fabulous street-side dining, or a more sedate and leisurely
meal inside on comfy Jesse's couches.
Please
join me in giving a heartfelt welcome to Jesse's and wishing
them the very best during their time with us.

Dancer Wins Scholarship
22/05/2001
|
Local
dancer Susan Morley has won a scholarship to attend the
prestigious NSW Dance School of Excellence. Prior winners
of this scholarship have gone on to join the highly acclaimed
Sydney Dance Company as well as gracing international stages.
Susan learnt her many moves in the Spot Dance Academy
under the tutelage of Mrs Barbara Lifford, herself a previous
winner of this scholarship.
But
for now, it seems that Susan is set to conquer the world.
Good on ya Suze!

Bad
News for Parking
20/05/2001
|
I
guess all news can't be good. You may remember a while
back there was talk that the vacant block next the Ritz
Cinemas was looking promising as a venue for extra parking
for customers of the Spot. Unfortunately all our work
on this proposal has been in vain, as the council has
just informed us that this block is no longer available
for development, so it would seem that for now, there
is to be no more parking to become available within the
near future.
As always, The Spot is committed to providing better access
for its customers, so this one setback will not cease
the Spot's lobbying to obtain approval from the Randwick
City Council for more parking. We will, of course, keep
you posted as to any new developments via this page.

Film
Festival Support
18/05/2001
|
Key
players of the Australian Film Industry has officially
stated its support for the Spot to host its very own film
festival, supported primarily by our very own Randwick
Ritz cinema complex.
With a purely Australian lineup, the film festival will
give you all a chance to see the best that our incredibly
talented (and homegrown) young filmmakers have to offer.
Those
of you who have never experienced such a film festival
before, this event is not to be missed. The short films
on offer are entertaining and thought provoking works,
and are far better made than their budget would suggest.
You'll love it.
Look
out for it in the Calendar of Events!!!
