Picture Gallery # 4

Note to the reader: All these pictures were taken on December 29 and 30 of 1999. The civil disobedience camps were all dismantled by the Navy during the May 4, 2000 arrests. However, the civil disobedience campaign continues. Puerto Ricans and foreigners alike constantly enter the restricted área. In the end justice will prevail.  ¡Paz para Vieques! (Peace for Vieques!)

Old discarded missile.
This missile was at least 5 x 2 feet ( 152 x 61 cm).
Old desalinifier that was probably used as a marker. (Note that Vieques has perennial problems with its water supply.)
This picture was taken from the summit of "Monte David" which is surrounded by crosses in memory of each person that has succumbed to the Navy's occupation.

The holes that can be seen in the picture, specially the ones to the right, are really craters caused by the bombing.

Craters formed by bombing the coral reef.
View of the south coast from the summit of "Monte David." Note the old tank and the military garbage that can be seen laying around.
