Cobo Cobo Bay at sunset. Cobo is on the West coast of the island and
is a very popular family beach.
The nature trail near Cobo is a favourite walking spot for my son. It
leads from La Mare de Carteret School to Sausmarez Park, a walk of over a mile. |
Le Guet Le Guet Lookout Point. This shot was taken south across part of Cobo
beach, and shows the le Guet pine forest and watchhouse. |
The watchhouse at Le Guet is another Fortress Guernsey site of interest. This
photo just shows the top of the structure. Below this is another 2 levels of bunker. |
This is the incredible view
of Cobo bay northwards from le Guet watchhouse. |
The carpark at le Guet is basically a
clearing surrounded by Guernsey granite boulders. |
Sausmarez Park Guernsey's biggest park is used for many different
events, including the North Show and Battle of Flowers, the Vielle Marche (old Market),
and Donkey Derby. |
The "Party in the Park" was hosted by a local supermarket chain, Le
Riches Stores in 1998. To celebrate their 100th birthday, Le Riches paid for all
entertainment, rides, and fireworks. I took my family there, and I must say we had a
brilliant, and free, day's fun. |
The Vielle Marche (old Market) is one of Guernsey's traditions. The first Monday
of July sees all the old crafts demonstrated, band marches, majorettes, and stalls setup
in the park. |
Here is a wicker pot being made. It is nice to know that some people hold an
interest in these crafts, so that they aren't lost completely in these modern times. |
Vazon Bay Area This shot was taken from the dam of the St Saviour's Reservoir in a North-Westerly direction.
You can't see the beach itself but the shape of the bay can be clearly seen. |
Night falls at Vazon bay. As you can see, the mist has rolled in already across
and behind the Martello tower on the right. |
