I still remember 1991 like it was yesterday when we got swept. I still have visions of Shane Churla and Basil luring Mike Peluso and company into stupid penalties. God I hated the North Stars but I miss them more than ever now. There are no more great ivalries in the NHL and it makes me ill. Hopefully the Wild rekindles the good old days of Old Time Hockey between the Hawks and North Stars. By the way...awesome page! Here Come the Hawks!!!

Great site! I live in St. Louis and I'm a huge Blues fan. Not only am I a Blues fan, but a Hockey fan, I remember the Northstars well, and I think that they never should have left. You are great fans and I'm glad to see that you continue to support th Nothstars even though they're in Dallas. Norm Green is a dick for moving the team, there was no reason for it, I know how I would feel if the Blues left St. Louis someday. Congratulations on getting the Minnesota Wild, and when the Dallas Stars come to town, sell the building out and give Mike Modano a standing ovation, along with the rest of your old team. I'm glad to see the NHL back in Minnesota, and I wish you great fans the best of times and success with the Minnesota Wild. One of the greatest Bl es games i went to was at the old St. Louis Arena, Blues fans miss the Arena dearly, against the Northstars. Sorry to say the Blues won that game, but you got us back for that one in 1991 when you killed us in the second round of the playoffs. My favori e Northstars memory, this coming from a Blues fan, is without question the 1991 run to the Stanley Cup Finals, upsetting the first overall Blackhawks, knocking off the second overall Blues, then beating the defending Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers i five games to advance to the Finals. I'm sorry that the Northstars lost, but I was really pulling for them, Jon Casey played awesome! Great site and good luck again with the Wild!!!!

The old battles between the Blackhawks and the Stars were some of the best games I ever saw. Also, the first "good" pair of hockey pants and gloves I had were North star green, white and gold. I loved those colors and the uniform. The new uniforms of the Minnesota Wild, do not have the classic look of the Old Stars. Plus, I do not like the Dallas "South" Stars" jerseys. There is too much black and that green is too dark. Sincerely, Dennis "Hoagy" Hogensen

What year did Neal Broten win the state high school championship? Sorry guys, he lost to Edina. In 1977, Edina beat Rosseau in the first round. In 1978, Edina beat Rosseau in the semi-finals. In 1979, Neal played at UofM and Edina won the state high s hool championship. Grand Rapids won the state in 1975 and 1976. BTW, the 1978 semi-final game was the greatest and best skating game high school hockey game ever.

If you're looking for a North Stars Jersey, www.classicjerseys.com has North Stars jerseys as well as jerseys other defunct teams. I still like to pretend that the North Stars are still around. It's fucked up that greedy owners ruin it for the true fans f the game. Norm Green bought the team in 91, got rid of their classic green "N" star jerseys and replaced them with these ugly black ones complete with an ugly new logo. Right then I knew that the writing was on the wall. After 2 years of running the orth Stars into the ground, Norm Green sold the team to Dallas and walked out of hockey. It is my belief that if you run a team poorly, you deserve to lose money, but the fans DO NOT deserve to lose their team in the process. This is why sports are so c rrupt these days, no one cares about who truly makes the game what it is today, THE FANS

Getting older know and hope my kids will show the same fire for there hoc ey team the Wild! I hope everybody feels the same about bringing hockey back where it belongs! The company that makes these is based in Minnesota and i called Blue Tiger Wear. He sells old North Stars jerseys under the name jersey.meister on ebay (www.ebay.com) you can look him up or you can just type in "North Stars Jersey" I'm pretty excited about hockey returning to Minnesota, I'm really anxious to see how many people go to the games dressed in North Stars "Gold and Green" It's cool having a new team but the Wild will never= the north stars

The loser DALL-ASS Stars went out and bought their Stanley Plastic Cup and cheated on the winning goal. Their worthless history has NOTHING to do wi h ours!!!!!!!!! NORM GREEN I STILL HATE YOUR GUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOREVER MINNESOTA NORTH STARS Mike

Great site, eh? I'm a native Minnesotan who now lives in Dallas. I moved here in 1994, just after the Stars did. I attended the first game of their second season, and have been to MANY of their big games. (The playoff loss to Edmonton in 97. The over ime win in game 5 against Detroit in 98. Three playoff wins last year) It was nice to finally see the North Stars win the cup. 81 & 91 were so very bitter sweet, yet 99 still has a bitter taste to it. I'll always be a Stars fan, but I hope the Wild will catch on and make a name for themselves. Shanon Rohlk

If you're wondering how you can get a Minnesota North Stars jersey with the classic "N" logo, eBay (www.ebay.com) is a good place to look. I recently ordered one from this guy that specializes in 70's and 80's North Star jerseys for 125.00 (not cheap by ny means but I still think it was worth it) From what I'm told, the quality of these jerseys are excellent, I havent gotten mine yet, I ordered Dino Ciccarelli's jersey. I really do miss the North Stars, The reason why hockey is in such dissaray nowadays is because the NHL is run by people who don't know real hockey. Gary Bettman used to be the NBA commissioner so what does he really know about hockey anyway? He's trying to turn the NHL into the NBA with bizarre team logo's, third color jerseys, etc... The modern day hockey jersey's look like something I barfed up. another thing that bothers me is overexpansion and the relocation of small market franchises into cities with no hockey tradition. there are just too many teams in the NHL right now, but Bet man doesn't care, the only thing he cares about is the money in his pocket. Bettman doesn't know hockey so he should go back to watching those shaved apes in the NBA and keeping them under control. When I get my North Stars jersey I will wear it with pr de. NORTH STARS FOREVER!!

Everyone is saying it won't be the same without the North Stars, but remember at least someone at least believes in having hockey in the northland as much as you do and we have to support it, to the max. I loved the North Stars too, but they are trying to give us something back as best they can do, so thanks again to the Wild...

Thank you for giving us the Stars! Loved your site. Since North Star trading cards are not in great demand in Dallas (unless the guys are still on the team), I have been able to grab a few. Maybe someday, I'll become a collector, but for now - it's jus a hobby. I don't know if you are interested in adding some to your site or not - just let me know and I'll get them downloaded to you. I'm sure I have more than these; it's just a matter of digging in my bottomless box. What a great walk down memory lane. I happened upon this site on accident and what a pleasant surprise it is. I grew up with Al MacAdam's daughter when he lived in Burnsvile, Minnesota. We were in the same grade in elementary school and were good frien s. I used to go over to their house and he had a replica of the Masterson trophy on the coffee table. I would go and watch practices at the Met and race around the concourse, not even caring that I was hanging out with the North Stars!! Al was just a r gular, down to earth, approachable guy and I was quite sad when he left. But the memories of standing outside the Met in the freezing cold after games waiting to get autographs and meeting so many of the guys is something that I'll always remember. The uys were real and cared about the fans, something that has been lost from the game. It was a sad day when the REAL Stars left Minnesota, because it meant the end of "old school" hockey, something that Dallas fans could never possibly begin to understand. Thanks for keeping the memory alive!! I still cherish my North Stars jersey, even though it doesn't fit anymore, and I still have all the autographs, often wondering what happened to the heroes of my youth. (My first crush- Tom McCarthy!) Thanks for t e web site, it is great!

Love your web site! As a youngster playing hockey for Duluth Denfeld in the late eighties I still remember seeing my only North Star hockey game at the Met...a memory that I still cherish, and miss. Why that jerk ever stole our team is beyond me, and th Wild will never match the spirit of the North Stars, but at least they could've kept the green and yellow N jersey...I mean that was the best! Best wishes on your web site.

I remember watching the final North Stars game of the 1992-93 season. They ended up losing to the Red Wings in a tough game. It never hit me that the North Stars were history until Al Shaver signed off with his son,Wally Shaver at the end of the telecast. It was very bittersweet. Thank goodness that t e Minnesota Wild renamed their press box after Al Shaver in the new St. Paul Arena because Al sure deserved it.

Fantastic site! While I love the content and the great memories it brings back, it also makes me realize how much I miss the North Stars and brings back the bitter thoughts associated with Norm "rot in hell" Green and the moving of the francise. My big re ret is that we didn't retain the name and colors, like the Cleveland Browns did. While I'll support the "Wild", nothing would have gotten my blood pumping more then to see a new group of North Stars take the ice wearing the classic "N- star" sweaters. Sti l the best jersey in all of hockey.

I like the site. "He shoots, he scores" brings back alot of memories. I grew up 2 hours west of the Cities so the radio was the lifeline (I only made one game, back in 84). The hockey cards really got me interested in collecting the players, only one p oblem, is there a checklist of just the North Stars players? The database sites I've been to don't list the teams with the players so I've ended up with cards of the right players but on the wrong teams (if they were traded that year or something). Than s for the site, hope the Wild can inspire as much devotion (making the playoffs at some point would be nice too). Robert Thissen rthissen@pierce.ctc.edu

The NORTH STARS and their history forever belong to MINNESOTA!!! As far as I am concerned the Dall-ass Stars have no association with our past and don't belong in the NHL! Why the hell did Dallas retire Neal Brotens number for playing in Dallas for 2 year ? Stupid. They are also losers for buying a stanley cup and for cheating on their winning goal. The Wild will begin play in the NORTH STAR state starting next year. Hopefully they will change their name to the North Stars after merchandise sales begin to wear off.(it's all about money) The NHL Betrayed us North Star fans by giving Norm greed the p wer to move. The NHL will not be forgiven until we have our North Star name back! Pass the word on to other North Star fans about this site! JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOREVER NORTH STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have always been a Red Wings fan, being a native of Detroit, but I always enjoyed their games with the North Stars. Now that the Dallas Stars are champions, I am dissapointed. Not because of the rivalry with the Wings, though; Detroit had a great run hese last few years, and they're still contenders. I am dissapointed because Minnesota was totally screwed out of their rightful place in the National Hockey League. First, the Gunds of Cleveland begin their whining in the 1980's about how they want to move the team to the San Francisco Bay area. I don't blame fan attendance for dropping; look at what happened in Cleveland when Art Modell announced that he was m ving the Browns. Finally, President Ziegler gives the Gunds their team in San Jose, saving the North Stars in the process. Howard Baldwin and Norm Green bought the team, and thanks mostly to Baldwin and G.M./Head Coach Bob Gainey, the Stars make the Finals after a f urth-place Norris Division finish. The team's fate was sealed, however, the day Baldwin sold his interest to Green in order to buy the Pittsburgh Penguins. The franchise move was inevitable the day Green changed the logo and uniforms. I firmly believed that when he bought the team in 1990, he had no intention of keeping them in Minnesota. All that kept him from moving were Baldwin, who left in '91, and Ziegler, who was ousted after the '92 strike. Green took advantage of the nai e and eager Gary Bettman to move the team to Dallas. As for Norm getting charged with sexual harrassment, that was merely icing on the cake. If current Stars owner Tom Hicks had any class, he would offer to give up the Stars identity for his team. Frankly, I'm not too "wild" about the new team's nickname, but I will welcome Minnesota back to the NHL with open arms in 2000.

I am so tore. The former Minnesota North Stars have just won the Stanley Cup. I remember dreaming about this night over twenty years ago, but it wasn't going to Texas. I am not sure if I am happy or mad. It is not fair that the fans in Texas get to ba k in the glory of the cup, while Minnesotans that were there for many years have to watch from afar. Bitter sweet this is. It is sad that I have to feel this way. None the less, congratulations to the former Minnesota Northstars.

It's funny how everyone is saying what great fans they were. Why was the Stars attendance so low then? Just wait, the Wild will come in, no one will go to games, just like the Stars so called fans, because they will be losers just like the Stars were. he city and state will cry when the team moves. Face it, Minnesota is all fair weather fans, just look at the Twins, since their World Series Championships, they are losers and can't draw. You people make me laugh, I'll bet most of you wouldn't go to ga es because of the cost etc. Losers, just like the Stars

Just hoping t at the bobber doesn,t go down while Jack Carlson is kicking the stuffings outa someone. It realy doesn,t matter what name they give a Minnesota Ice hockey team,The Fans will be driving force of the team not the hype. Minnesota Fans are some of the smartes hockey people in the world , They won't settle for a mediocore squad. There is too much Good hockey in Minnesota to pay for bad hockey!!!

It was a very sad day for this life-time Rangers fan when the North Stars pulled a "Cleveland Browns" and left for Dallas. Hockey in Texas, "Well Golly Y'all!" Doesn't anybody care about the history of the greatest league in sports. Teams move around the league like I move my bowels. The Winnipeg Jets to Phoenix - Alternate jerseys, the Montreal Forum - I'd love to meet the people behind these decisions. How s on before we see cheerleaders at the games? I remember when the Los Angles Kings went from the traditional Gold & Purple to the "very original" colors of Silver & Black and everytime you saw a member of the LA gang "The Kings" being arrested on TV, he was proudly wearing his La Kings jersey or jack t over his face as they carted him away. I bet those scenes made Kings management proud. Ironically I went to my first hockey game in 1967 the year of the first expansion and the first year of the North Stars. I long for those days again. Days when players had to have ability to play the game. My grandmother could be a 4th line center on s me of these watered down line-ups. So Long North Stars, Good-bye Gump and Caesar and Lou and JP and Giles we'll miss you! Heeeellllo Thrasters! Can't wait for the first "RAP" Night at the new arena!

Hi! Great site. I used to be a huge fan of the North Stars. Brian Bellows was my all time favorite player and Neal Broten was a far of second. My dad used to take me down to a couple of games every year. I cried when I heard they were leaving and aga n when I saw them taking down Met Center. After they left I kept track of my fav players (it wasn't there fault after all) but not the team. Now I'm a huge fan of Gopher hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks. It will be great to have the NHL back in MN, bu the Wild will never compare to the North Stars at Met Center! Sorry, didn't mean to start my great american novel in you guestbook! What a thrill to come across this site. Nice to see the Green Machine lives on! Best childhood memories were spent at the Met Center and home with the transistor under the pillow with Al Shaver on the radio. Grew up in Norwood-Young America but now live in Tennessee. Used to work at KDWB and even skate with the team once in awhile during my tenure in the morning with Chris Edmonds. I miss the Twin Cities and hope the Wild are recieved wildly. If I ever get a attoo it would be the old North Star. Hockey is my love, Hockey is my life, someday I'll marry a puck for a wife!

It has been over 8 years since I worked my last North Star game at Met Center. Every time I drive by the old site, I can still see it there in my mind. I can still hear the crowd roar and the music playing after a Neal Broten goal! Thanks, Jon, for givi g us fans a place to remember and never forget the team we all loved. Norm still sucks! We are less than 850 days 'till the drop of the puck on the inaugural season for the Minnesota Wild! I can hardly wait!!! Soon, there will be a new cheer, "Let's G Wild! Let's Go Wild!" See all of you there!

I like the Wild's colors a lot, maybe even more than the legendary green and gold North Stars. They s oulda never switched to those black ones, green is so much better. Well, at least the Wild will be green thank God! Norm Green Sucks! North Stars, rule forever, and may our Minnesota Wild bring home the cup!!

GREAT page!!! I am a huge fan of the Stars and have been since they moved here to Dallas. I have enjoyed them so much and I am so sorry you guys had to lose them. You are going to have SO much fun with the Wild. But I know it won't be the same. I don't kn w what I would do if they ever moved from here. I have worked for the team and been a faithful attendant at numerous games and practices. My life would not be the same without them. I have made some lifelong friendships through the Stars. In fact, a couple of my fellow friends/fans and I are coming up to Minneapolis for the Stars preseason game against Phoenix. I cannot wait. I can't wait to see where they came from. My favorite player is also from Minnesota (Jamie Langenbrunner). So it's oing to be quite and experience. I am looking forward to meeting many North Star fans. Hang in there guys...and don't worry...we are taking really good care of the best team in the NHL!

Even though I grew up in the Dallas area, I was always a big hockey fan. My mom is from Warroad, Minnesota and raised me to love the Warroad Warriors, Lakers, and, of course, the Minnesota North Stars! (For some reason we never followed the Golden Gophers ?) I also started following Neil Broten after the Lake Placid Miracle (even though he was from Warroad's rival town). I never had a chance to go to Bloomington and see a North Stars game...it was always one of those "things I'm going to do before I die." Needless to say, I was not disappointed when I found out that Dallas was getting an NHL team and it would be my belo ed North Stars with Neil and Mike Modano. I have one of Neil's inaugural year Dallas jerseys nicely framed in my bedroom (cost me $500 but I would have paid twice that!). My next goal is to find a green North Stars jersey worn by Neil. I guess its one of those "things I'll do before I die."

Nice work. Well, you asked, so here they come (the comments). I think Dallass can go suck it. I don't care for hockey south of the Mason-Dixon myself. I think that the Stars should have stayed in Minnesota; and I beg your pardon, but Minnesota hockey ans can all go to hell if they couldn't keep a team in town, watch their team go melt away in freakin' Texas, where they actually get somewhere in postseason play, and bitch unitl they get another team. At which time, Minnesota will inevitablly not learn their lesson, and lose another team, or worse yet...add yet another team to the NHL instead of importing a team from God knows where.... You can take the Colorado avalanche. Its fine by me if that team goes straight to hell. Otherwise, great page, I mi s the North Stars. When I think of hockey, I think of Minnesota North Stars...and Pittsburg Pens, but thats beside the point. I appreciate your effort, and keep going strong.

Growing up in Mpls as a NORTH Stars fan these pages really bring back some good memories, but also make me angry. The Twin Cities, & the state, was never more alive than during a good run by the North Stars in the playoffs; not even during the Twins cham ionships. I now live in Washington, DC & their run this year has brought back memories. It's not the same here, it's just not a very good hockey town. People don't understand when I explain what it was like in '81 & '91. Keep up the good work w/the si e & everybody make sure to route hard for the red Wings. The Stars never won it all when they were in their rightful place, so I damn sure hope they never win a thing in a town that doesn't deserve hockey (I've been to a game there).

Question: Did Neal Broten play for the Stars in Dallas or did he retire before the move? I was told that Dallas retired Neal Broten's number. I was curious as to if he was ever a Dallas STAR. Jamie

Hey, I like this page, but you've totally ignored Dino Ciccarelli. As a fan of the North Stars and South Stars since 1981, I'm seriously concerned about you omitting Dino.

The Minnesota North Stars will forever be the only pro hockey team I care about. The Met Center was also the greatest hockey rink in the NHL. Great site lines, smooth ice, and that baritone belting out the national anthem before those Blackhawk games.
