  • Eels’ Eyes - mentioned in the apothecary’s in Diagon Alley
  • Elixir of Life - A substance from the philosopher’s stone that makes the drinker immortal. No one except Nicholas Flamel and maybe Dumbledore know what’s in it.
  • Erumpent horns and tails - Used in potions and defined as Class B Tradeable Materials.
  • Essence of Murlap - Soothing remedy for bruises and bad cuts.
  • Exploding Fluid - Class B Tradeable Material that comes from an Erumpent, a large African beast similar to a rhinoceros.
F
  • Fire Crab shells - The shell of a fire crab is heavily encrusted with jewels and is sometimes used as a highly valuable cauldron.
  • Flobberworm mucus - Used to thicken potions.
  • Fluxweed - A rare plant, classified as a mint, grows in sandy soil and stream banks. Fluxweed (or flixweed) is used to aid broken bones, relieve asthma, and help against stomach worms. Used in the preparation of the Polyjuice Potion.

  • Gillyweed - A magical underwater plant from the Mediterranean Sea that when swallowed, gives a person gills so he or she can breathe underwater.
  • Glumbumble treacle - A melancholy-inducing substance that can be used to counteract the hysteria caused by ingesting Alihotsy leaves.
  • Graphorn horn - Used in many potions, but immensely expensive because of the graphorn’s aggressiveness.
H
  • Horn of Bicorn (powdered) - The bicorn is a mythical creature, thought to have demonic characteristics. Mentioned in literature as a beast, which grows fat by living on the flesh of faithful husbands. The female equivalent is called a chichevache. The horn of the bicorn is used in the preparation of the Polyjuice Potion.

  • Jobberknoll feathers - Blue and speckled, they are used in Truth Serums and Memory Potions.
K
  • Knotgrass - A fairly common weed in well cultivated land, knotgrass is known for its usefulness in diarrhea and hemorrhages. Shakespeare describes this weed as effective in hindering the growth of children and young animals. Used in the preparation of the Polyjuice Potion.
