William is a Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation National Laureate (www.millenniumscholarships.ca). This is the highest honour presented by the program, which recognizes and rewards individuals with outstanding academic and community achievements.

In Grades 9, 10, and 11, William received Gordon Graydon's Robert F. Thomas Staff Award, which is awarded to one male and one female non-graduating student with the highest academic average in the student body. Leadership and Community Involvement

As Chairperson of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) of Mississauga, William manages an organization of 100 youth between the ages of 14 and 24 that organizes community events, debates relevant issues, and makes recommendations to all levels of government. He chairs monthly general meetings, speaks on behalf of Mississauga's young people at a wide range of engagements and events, and oversees an executive of seven members. For instance, in July 2003, he co-organized the Mississauga Interactive Child Safety Forum, which brought together parents, children, and such organizations as ChildFind Ontario, the Mississauga Crime Prevention Association, and Peel Regional Police to discuss and learn about child safety.

Since 2002, William has chaired the Mississauga Youth Week Organizing Committee, a group of youth that organizes a weeklong, citywide festival in May that celebrates the spirit of volunteerism, recognizes youth achievement, and develops tomorrow's leaders. William's responsibilities included securing $10,000 in funding from corporate partners, negotiating with suppliers, promoting the festival, and overseeing the planning and execution of several events. During this time, William has also chaired the Mississauga Youth Achievement Awards Judging Committee, which collects nominations and selects the Mississauga Young Citizens of the Year.

William has worked with younger youth -- in 2002, he was a Sports Camp Leader with the City of Mississauga.

In the summer of 2001, William co-founded a venture called Awake Technologies, which developed and produced a CD-ROM software product called the e-ware Library.

William has also been active in such organizations as Foodpath Mississauga and the Mississauga Heritage Foundation. At school, he competed with DECA, managed an import-export business in a program called Achievers International, and acted in such drama productions as Macbeth, Our Town, and Godspell.
