"Grandma? When is mommy coming home?"
Tina's asked five times this way.
Grandma chokes back a sob one more time,
and says it won't be for many days.

"Mommy? Why isn't daddy back from work?"
and mommy dies inside once more.
She can't make him understand what's happened,
that daddy's on God's celestial shore.

A mother sitting anxiously in a wheel chair
in a run down nursing home.
Given the news of her only daughter
and all she asks, is when she'll phone.

A saddened Lord, he's looking down.
Sees his children suffering so.
Bids his newest angels comfort to give,
to those they left behind below.
