Fisherman's Logic

Grandpa and Danny sat silently in the small boat
the fishing was slow as was Danny's tongue.

Something wrong Danny?
Yes Grandpa, I got my feelings hurt
and I'm still in a bad mood.

Grandpa spun his magic.

When we go fishing Danny,
what do I do with the small fish?
You throw them back Grandpa.
What do I do with the big fish?
We take them home, prepare and eat them?

Button

Think about that tonight Danny
and tell me what you make of it tomorrow.

The next day Danny met Grandpa at the shore.
Grinning from ear to ear, Danny explained.

The little fish are the small problems we have.
Throw them back and forget them.
They aren't worth the effort.

Button

The big fish are the ones we take time with,
eat and allow to nourish us.
We grow because of them,
and then they too are gone
and must be forgotten.

Grandpa smiled and fondly remembered
the same story he'd heard from his dad
as a child.

Fishing was great that day.
