THE BLURB
None of our team has taught in Egypt as yet, so any information would be most welcome. From our research we have found that it seems to be a positive experience to work there. Although it can be fiercely hot in summer and very polluted (irritating to allergy sufferers), it can be quite pleasant at other times of year, and even quite cold in winter. As for the TEFL scene, the rumours of jobs seeking teachers rather than the usual job-hunt may be exaggerated - but they are exaggerated by nearly everyone. Conditions can vary a lot, and it is unlikely that accomodation will be provided although help may be given in finding it. Regarding paperwork, your school should be able to sort out your work permit, or at least give you help, after your arrival. Opportunities seem to be equal for men and women, although there are reports of females being harrassed. Overall, it sounds like a friendly, warm (in all senses) and thoroughly enjoyable experience.
